I've been watching some of these streams from Taiwan and they got it going on compared to pool in the USA.

If you just watch this one match, you will see that they put more money, time, and effort in it for the league players than we do for the professionals.

The have the BEST camera and angles of any I have seen and the picture is PERFECT. They have a secluded playing area with sponsor advertisements. They have good young players and a perfect table and a referee.

And to top it off, they have Linda the score card girl. She is 160/44 (5'2"/97 pounds) and measures 32C-24-34.

It is no wonder that these young guys run all over the Americans.

I keep saying Bring Back the Rack Girls!...but no one listens :frown:

American Pro Pool isn't just down on its luck...it's been neutered too.

Very nice indeed. Telestrator, instant replay, Linda, scoreboard and everything is very crisp and clean. I believe next step will be to have 2-4 tables to jump from with commentators at each table that the main commentators could converse with. When down to finals just have a lot of tournament highlight clips to show. Add some good educational stuff in there while we're at it ;) Golf would struggle on TV too if it had to follow just 2 golfers around the course in real time.

Many say pool is not a spectator sport and they may be right, I'm holding off my opinion until I see someone give it a fair chance and produces it properly.

Your right.

Spectator sport or not, there are 400 channels on DirecTV, 10 on ESPN, we should have a spot...,

If as you so correctly stated, someone does it right!

That's one reason why I think chinese 8 ball is so popular over there.

Oscar was telling me that in Shanghai(yes I know that's mainland China, not Taiwan), they have a weekly Chinese eight ball tourney that is $9 entry, $5000 added... That was not a typo $5000.00 added WEEKLY...

I find it interesting the NBA is a sponsor for this tournament. Between the first and second racks you can see the NBA login on the bottom right corner...very interesting.

I like there format also, blind draw for the game to be played. Would make for more rounded players.

Thanks for posting this, good food for thought.

Due to the language barrier you also don't have to pay attention to the comments from the commentators. Makes it easier to watch...

Yup.

I remember having high hopes when the IPT had it's small stint on Versus. Boy was I disappointed. I certainly didn't help that KT was in the booth.

I wouldn't say the table plays perfect. A few matches last year, it rolled off be.

This thread followed the league throughout last year, mand continues to do so: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=362364

Oh, the NBA isn't necessarily a sponsor. VLSports broadcasts NBa games, so they're advertising their own network.

Still wondering why 8-ball isn't included in the ladies' competition.

Thanks great stuff
Filipino TV matches have 2 girls to keep the 2 players company
I wonder if it is to test the players ability to concentrate. I see Alcano and Biado trying to look straight and focus
