Anyone else heard this term used by your opponent as the cueball heads toward scratching in the pocket?

Meaning?/Origin?

Just wondering.

Thanks

I think it's a variation of "falling into the drink" -- to mean falling into a body of water. Could be wrong though...

It's a term that was used in the latter half of the 1600's when aquatic billiards was popular. If the cue ball scratched, it would roll into the deep end of the pool. The person who scratched had to "take a drink" to go get it.

It is a term used by the Preacher Man from Alabama everytime I scratch. He is a fantastic player and a lot of fun to play.
