Disheartening news as I'll be going to Vegas in a few months and was hoping to take my sticks.

Flying with Cues

What about warping??? I see everyone saying to pack the cues in "checked luggage"...whether it be in a suitcase, or a pool case cover....but what about warping? Not all flights are "climate controlled cargo" unless an animal is being transported.

Does anyone know how much it costs to ship your cues, say via FedEx, "TempaSure"???

I have used a softball bat bag for years -- put your pool case in in along with your shoes and stuff your socks or other items you don't care if they get wrinkled around it. Works perfectly. (knock on wood). Never an issue putting it thru baggage..

Thanks for the info. Have you ever had an issue with warping?

Apologies if I missed this because I skipped page 2 but Golf travel bags are a workable option. For several years a buddy was able to borrow a golf travel bag (hard plastic big enough for a set of clubs) and we could fit two pool cases inside it. That thing was pretty bomb proof but large / heavy - had wheels. I wouldn't buy one but if you know some avid golfers who travel to play they might loan you one.

i travelled from the Philippines to the US just last month and brought a cue with me. it was a 26-hour flight with 3 different planes involved and 4 different international airports. it did not get lost or damaged, lucky for me i guess.

my concern was the possibility of the cue warping - due to the length of flight exposed to very low temperatures. i packed the cue (1 butt, 2 shafts) in a 1x2 case, wrapped the case with a huge amount of stretch-tite plastic food wrap, then wrap it with a sheet of roofing insulation foam before putting in a box that i made. the box (about 36x5x6 inches) is made of 2 plies of thick corrugated cardboard, covered in packaging tape. i also made 6 stickers that said "fragile. handle with care". it turned out well - cue was still straight. it is now in the hands of our fellow AZer (sent to him on that same box).

note: i think those baggage wrappers / luggage wrapping machines would also do a good job in protecting our cues being checked on planes,
