Takini on my GC4

About a month ago I purchased some tournament blue Takini cloth from Singernak/Chris. I've been waiting to get the basement recarpeted and after finally getting that done I put the table back together thursday and got to play again. I've got 2 days play on it now and I can say for sure I really like the Takini. Its not quite as fast as the 860 but not by much. End to end I get 4.5 rails and 7.75 rails around the table. Can't quite get to the 8th. That's plenty fast for me. I glued it with 3M10 and it worked very well except the pockets. The GC doesn't have alot of room under the shelf for glue but staples do the trick there. I did have some shadows show up in the cloth but thats because I'm not a pro and didn't get it stretched evenly. But it plays great! Thanks Chris. Don

Thanks for the post. I'm refinishing my GCIII and boutht the same cloth awhile ago. Should be ready to recloth and complete in about three weeks. Maybe I'll writ something up and post some pics then.

just FYI the end to end rail test and the rails around are mostly related to the cushion rubber and rail height. and not the speed of the cloth ....

Have had a few discussions w/ RKC on this topic and the frictional force of the cloth is negligible....

good luck with the new cloth.

So what's the story with Takini? I understand it's less expensive but does it have any features that you like better than Simonis, like is it known to last longer, resist burn marks better, stuff like that?

Or is it primairly a price point thing?

Right now its price but I checked out Singernaks original thread and quite a few people bought and liked the cloth before I did. Can't give you a last longer answer for a while yet. I'll just have to post up later when I know more.
