Talent on AZ

I have heard many people talk about how "if the people on AZ are as good as they claim.......".

I have met many of the players on AZ and I have to say that there are probably more players who are capable of playing super sporty than the people who make astonishing claims on AZ. Sure some of the people might be stretching the truth or even talking out of their ass, but I feel that if people assume that they are telling the truth, they might save themselves some money in matching up because there is some serious talent in the regular posters on AZ and probably even more if you count lurkers or occasional posters. I think the problem arises from people giving advice that don't really have any business giving advice.

It would kind of be like me giving advice on how to match up or play money games. I have NO BUSINESS at ALL giving that advice and if anyone ever catches me doing so, call me out on it.... Hell if anyone catches me giving advice on how to play under pressure before I've won any majors, call me out on it, cause I suck at it....lol

I agree. I try to provide useful information, If any of the information I have given was incorrect, or didnt help I wouldnt... I myself have played the game for many years, while I live In Arkansas I played semi pro calibur players or better on a daily basis, and I beat the majority. I also beat a ranked 10 in the appa 30 racks in a row in front of the appa president. Whitch also offered me a sponcership. granted that has been awhile back, but I play even better today... my best straight pool run is 212 on a 8', I have no desire to become BCA certified, or to claim Im even an instructor, Im a coach, I try to help you attain all you can, thus the purpose of my web site.

I try to address issues most pool school's do not to give some varitey as well as solid information to get you in the zone.. I really have no time or desire to work with anyone on a one on one basis, as always I have offered and will tape any situation or shot and give you a detailed explaination, whitch is comming to my site. I will address situations that are not only tough, but Im going to show you how I would get out, un cut.. so If I miss or make a mistake you will see it.

Im tired of all the BS myself, and Im addressing it as a player, not the best, but I can play, can I beat EFREN? well, if I broke both arms and poked an eye out....lol

What bothers me is people who give information and couldnt run 3 balls, you would be surprised at how many so called instructors cant play themselves..

I play 5 days a week, and I run at least 3 racks daily.. I useualy play for about 2-3 hours, and I play anyone.. anyone at any level its useualy just who shows up... I welcome any player, at any level to play and I offer free advice if you should ask. If you want a one on one lesson I will but not often. If I were a world champion then Id charge you. untill then you get it for free.

SPINDOKTOR...Just so you know, I'm not calling you out...however, some of the information on your site IS incorrect. I'm not sure how you can quantify that you address issues not covered in pool school, since you've never been to one. Getting "in the zone" is first about getting control of your stroke, and then creating a perfect, repeatable setup and delivery process. The information is provided to the student...but it up to them whether or not they're willing to put in the hard work to make it replace what they were doing. Being a good instructor is not about being a good player. Those of us who can play well, as well as teach, have an advantage...but almost always in any sport, the best teachers are not the best competitors. Pool is no different. Your achievements as a player really are unrelated to your potential ability to convey accurate, quality information. There are tons of champion players who can't teach a lick. Efren is one, and makes no bones about it, to anyone who asks. It's too bad you "have no desire" to be associated with the BCA instruction program. You likely could learn a LOT about becoming a better "coach" yourself...provided you came to pool school with an open mind.

Fellow posters:

Ditto, just what Scott stated.

I post almost every day which means I also read alot of posts. Yes, I find some of the information goofy and wonder many times what the hell are they thinking of. I don't think any of that info has every hurt my game, just my head.

I personally don't have the right to comment on any coaches, pool schools or instructors unless I have visited with those individules. When a poster lumps them all together is insulting.

The information that Scott and I post is what we teach. I have seen SPF, S.A.M and the Pause beaten to death by posters who never crossed our doors. What a shame! Anyway, until I walk in your shoes, I will keep my statements about you direct and as positive as possible....SPF=randyg

This is a great board!

Guilty as charged.

I can't run 3 balls in a row, and most of the information I pass along here is complete and total BS.

Now... can I get the 7?

:)

I will not claim to be a good player or a good teacher. I can't even run racks, only making series of 3-6 balls. The only thing I do is experiment a lots of stuff and read a lots from players and teachers. I like to helping others, and did see some great improvement from the players, who I helped. So I'm not totally wrong when I say stuff. There is nothing wrong when you want to give peoples advice.

You can get the 7, but I only play for beers. Any beers won must be consumed prior to the start of the next game.

My hi run in 14.1 is 14 and I can do it all day long.

I always enjoy any post by either Scott Lee or RandyG, these are two well respected instructors that are more than happy to pass on good advice in all of their posts. Keep typing guys, many people out here enjoy your insights.

Sorry, I haven't had a beer in over 21 years and counting - so here's what we'll do... you shoot with the skinny end of the cue and I'll shoot with the fat end with that big rubber tip. For every shot you miss, I get 5 points, for every shot I miss, I get 10 points. The loser has to go to Atlanta to get lessons from Fast Larry. Fair enough?

That sounds fair to me :D .

But either way, he still can't lose the bet, assuming high score wins.

Hitting with the big fat end is a foul. Read the WPA-rules :D . So he will still lose.

I do try to help once in awhile in this forum but there are so many others offering their opinions some good some not so good. I highly respect Scott and Randy I as hope they respect me also. I do know what I?m doing. I run my Pool School as a business and I have plenty of students to work with. I have been teaching now for 22 years and loving everyday. Each student is special to me no matter what their skill level is and I have worked with all levels.
Oh by the way I can run 3 balls! I think this is a great board and I enjoy reading many of the posts. Very entertaining!
Scott and Randy are we still on for Vegas?

If I can have the orange crush....lol

There's talent in shooting pool and there's talent in teaching pool and then there's no talent at all, just hard work. They all come in spades here at the AzB. You just need to pick the right people to teach you and the right people to avoid playing against  :)
