What are your experiences with Talisman Cue Tips, they say there THE BEST but i want to hear from people that actually use them.

I Just bought a McDermott Cue and i love it, it came with a Triangle (med-hard) tip on it and i was thinking of changing it to a SNIPER Tip but am now considering talisman but i wanted to know peoples oppinions about them first

Talisman Tips

I used to play Moori mediums but switched to Talisman hard years ago. I would never go to another tip. The Talisman pro water buffalo tip works marvels for me. I am strictly a bank player and employ the spin bank versus the cut bank. With so many different bank shots requiring varying degrees of spin to find the pocket, I feel more in control of my english when using the Talisman hard tip. I especially like to shoot reverse and double reverse cross side shots. Again, I feel in control with the Talisman tip. Having said all of that, I would like some feedback on the new Moori 3 hard tip? I believe it is Moori's response to the Talisman Pro?

I played with the old Mooris and really thought they played well. They were very consistent. When the Moori IIIs came out, I went to them. I did not care for them...never seemed like any 2 played the same. I switched to Talisman and have found that, for me, they really do the job. Very consistent.

I use the Talisman mediums on my playing cue. Upon my first use, I broke my high run of one.

so if i bought one how hard is it to put on? should i get a pro to do it? how much would they charge on average?

Talisman

I find that the Talisman (layered) tips are easier to take care of too....once you get them shaped up they don't need much maintenance

I would find a local guy to do the tip for you.....maybe $20 for a Talisman installed. You might wanna give a medium a try ;)

Sniper

I still like sniper better, and I have seen more people like moori over talisman.

I don't like the moori and the talisman are almost the same type of tip from what I have heard.

If you like that triangle tip on your McDermott then go for a sniper, you won't be happier than with that tip!

A wise man would have a Sniper professionally installed.
If you want to get geeked up on media hype...go the the Tiger website and read the list of pro players using the Sniper. The info is on the FAQ page.;)

Thats what I'm talking about...nice gesture Cueball1950..for that you get rep points. Send the tip & shaft to me...I'll install it for you for free. Just pass along the goodwill when you have the chance.;)

Sniper's are my favs, but hey, if someone is giving you a free Talisman and someone else is willing to put it on for you for free, I say go with the Talisman.

I put one on one of my extra cues and I really like the way it played, but I'm afraid to switch from the Moori with my main playing cue. Since you've a new cue, I think this would be an ideal time to try one. One note of caution though, they have a tendency to delaminate some times. I think from being overheated when burnished during the installation. So I suggest you read the note on Talisman's website about installation, print it out, and give it to the installer to read.

Well that's nice of you, I guess that makes my caution to him about the installer meaningless advice. :) Should have read the whole thread before I posted that.

Edit: BTW, keep being a nice guy like that and I may have to send some business your way.:D

Ive been using the Talisman M for years now, never had 1 delam on me unlike a couple Moori's. My wife uses them also, for a layered tip you just cant beat them (for the price and quality).
Tony is a super nice guy to boot and stands behind what he sells. Plus he sends me a Christmas card every year. :D

I'm on about my 6 or 7th Talisman M on various shafts. I really like the feel and control, they've been very consistent & no mushrooming. Occassionally I shape back to a dime and I'm ready to go. Prefer them to Morri mediums.

Have not tried a Sniper or Everest but would like to. Would they be a bit harder than the Talisman M's??

Like a lot of things, it all comes down to personal preference.

tips

I just got a bluegrass cue that is supposed to be original including the tip.
Richard Harris according to his website uses only tailsman tips. If thats so I guess thats what Im playing with now. Man I would never change whats on this cue period. I have heard so much about snipers I am going to try one on another cue just to satisfy my curiousity. Mori meds are fine but require alot of maintenance. Just my two cents.

Nice gesture too Kevin. It says I can't give you another rep until I give it to others. I will do one better though. I will have you do all of my work when needed & order my next cue from you. Your generosity here on the forum has earned you a customer.

Yes I agree Mr Varney does certainly walk the walk!
