I have that book but I haven't looked at it since I originally bought it.There is an old book called BILLIARDS: Hustlers and Heroes, Legends and Lies, and the Search for Higher Truth on the Green Felt by John Grissim, he had made a trip to Manila IIRC, and had some great stories and pictures.
Back in those days, they kept bets straight with a stick of chalk right on the table.

many years ago I was in Puerto la cruz Venezuela playing $$$ 8 ball and to my
surprise the guy was writing our bet on the table cloth with chalk for every game. first time I had seen that. we had about 20 of the locals gathered around the table watching our game and rooting for me! I think they were tired of getting their butts kicked by this guy.the last game we played I wrote down the bet on the table for 10,000 bolivars (little over $100), he lost and then would not pay....that is another story for another day.![]()
