My apologies Cookie... I thought you lived in florida, so it didn't dawn on me to reach out to you directly on the off chance you may have been in Vegas during the APA tourneys. I did mention my trip in the "how ya doing in league" thread, but who actually pays attention to that thread...lolWish I knew you were there in Vegas
Not sure this holds water. And this is the main point vs cheap chalk.
It is like buying good tools, they last longer and perform better.
Hygiene is the main selling point. If you own your table especially with a ball return system it's well worth the price imo. I also have zero visible chalk staining on any of ferrules or wood shafts. So for me it's worth it. Won't make you play any better.typical the only thing going for TAOM is the cleanliness ... thats not worth $25 bucks to me .... as far as miscue goes ... probably usually user error a majority of the time. the issue of cling .... it happens occasionally but never been huge issue to me
i use masters and i dont either ... no problems ..none and you can buy an entire box for $4 bucksHygiene is the main selling point. Yeah we all know your a cheap ass , old newsi use masters and i dont either ... no problems ..none and you can buy an entire box for $4 bucks
its not being cheap .... its not being stupidYeah we all know your a cheap ass , old news
Well that ship has sailedits not being cheap .... its not being stupid
This makes sense - but for me, the cleanliness of Taom is worth the extra $$ if you have a home table (plus its longevity) IMO. In my experience at least, there is a noticeable difference when I wipe down the cloth now vs. I was just using regular old Masters. Perhaps "how clean is it" isn't at the top of everyone's list, but I *hated* Predator chalk for this reason. I found it got everywhere. Not sure this holds water.
I bought a gross of yellow triangle maybe 25yrs ago for >50% of what I paid for the 5 pieces of V10. Probably have still have 50 or so cubes of that triangle in my pool room. Can't put a number to how many pieces I've given away, or not bothered picking up. Even if a piece of V10 last me a couple of years, it's not going to touch the longevity of that gross. Which cost significantly less.
Does V10 perform better than triangle...? Hard to say. I rarely miscue to begin with and have zero complaints about the triangle.
Yep.A cylinder of Taom lasts a year easy - which is that much less chalk getting under your cloth on a home table. $25/year to have a 90% reduction in cleaning - well worth it.
It's materials science not magic and comes down to the particle sizes as to what you see transferring onto the cueball... Since nano powders cannot be used in the manufacture of chalk in the USA, European Union or Japan because of health risks this is a pretty good clue as to COO... Are several brands out now that use the nano tech, some going back 4-5 years now... When OSHA or their counterpart in EU get around to testing, this may not be available so stock up and don't vacuum your table as the bag won't catch it and everyone in the room will get a dose... Nanos pass thru the skin and lung linings like they are there and go straight into the blood stream.. Spots lead the 5 out...... So far I have seen Joy Dustless, Zen, Sniper and Konllen actually state "nano technology" and more will be coming as more brands have it made.
I call my extremely recent Taom purchase the most incredibly stupid pool based buy I have ever made...lolits not being cheap .... its not being stupid
A Couple of members here including myself have questioned the manufacturer about the use of nano particles and they have replied that they are not using them.nobody seems terribly concerned about this? is there any truth to it?
I’m a masters guy so it’s inconsequential to me, but i found this post a touch unnerving.
Although, im sure its not great to inhale any kind of chalk.
