This past year, Tommy Kennedy became a co licensee with Mike and Shannon Mofield in Manatee county, Florida. This nationals was the first time Tommy got to interact with the TAP licensees and members and what a great job he did. His challenge matches were a hit with the players. He will be doing the same thing for us at the SBE next April at the TAP sales booth. Thanks again Tommy. You are a great addition to the TAP family. TK AND ME.jpgy.

Tommy is a class act and very fun to watch. You guys are blessed to have him.

Tommy always seems to be having a good time whenever I see him or picture of him....

But...did he do his table juggling???

Ofcourse he did. :)

He came across as one of the happiest and friendliest people I've ever met.

That all being said, the event in my opinion was a disaster in terms of organization and from conversations with many others players they were extremely disappointed. Throw in the $8 bottles of beer and $4 coffees at the venue with the inflated prices of the opryland's understaffed restaurants I'd have a hard time ever wanting to make a 24 hour round trip to a national event ever again. Hopefully all the criticism is heard and things are improved for the next one. And please, get the tables on carpet instead of concrete, these are amateurs playing but it doesn't need to be amateur hour. Anyone with back issues were nearly crippled after playing pool all week.

Sam, you did a great job with the Tommy Kennedy thing, that was pretty cool and you really couldn't have had a better old school pro representing the league.

I thought the tables played great. I might be a little too serious for these events.

For me it was a job to win the big money and not a vacation.

I never wanted to win so bad in my life. My record of 32 game wins and only 8

losses was probably about the best out of all players there.

I'm just glad I got to play in a National event and never let my team down.

Time to regroup and think about next year.

One good thing...got to do a lot of walking and lost some weight!:D

I have no more complaints. TAP is the only league I shoot.

Nice to see John Barton there and watch him play.

He plays good.

Tap nationals

1. Yes, Tommy juggled balls many times...up to 11 on a bar box which is amazing to say the last. Tommy has concentration as solid as granite.

2. The complaint about concrete floors was the first I heard. If you remember, the SBE at the old place was on tile floors (same as concrete) and the last few were on concrete. It isnt easy to get floors covered in carpet of that size. As for prices, yes they were high. It comes with the scale of the place. The Gaylord is the largest non gaming resort in the U.S. The place is over the top and with that comes a cost factor. Me personally, I don't need to drink $8 beers. I can wait to go some place cheaper. I bet you didn't know that TAP got billed $1,000 per keg for the welcome party. There were many good eateries right across the street from the resort. Steakhouses, Bob Evans, etc. All very reasonable.

3. I sent 4 teams down to Nashville and believe me, my players will tell me if they didn't like it or had complaints. They all had a blast.

4. TAP does listen to your concerns and next year we will be in Charleston SC. A place we been to twice before so there will be less issues since we dealt with this location before. The thing players need to realize is TAP moves our nationals every year or so and with that comes dealing with different venues and they do not know what to expect either. It's either that or the same old place every year. Our players like to see different parts of the country.

5. There were some scheduling issues and some late match times and this is being addressed for future events. Overall the player's feedback we are getting is very positive. As in anything, you cant please everyone but we at TAP try our best.

I've never met him but Tommy seems like a good guy - the kind of person we need more of at high levels of the sport.

Tk

Tommy is a great person to be around. TAP is blessed to have him with us. We also had legendary cue maker Bill Schick stop in and I hear he plans on being at our nationals next year too. He is a great guy with loads of knowledge and stories to share.

The drinks weren't so much an issue, a quick trip to walmart set us up for the week. Bob Evans was great food for the money and I ate there numerous times. The disappointment was primarily the venue and I understand it's tough to please everyone and there's many things out of TAP's control. I play TAP exclusively because I enjoy the league better than every other league, I'm not oblivious to the good things only venting what can be improved.

I shouldn't have said it was a disaster being that the majority of things weren't in the control of TAP. I wish Chris Turow would have been running the singles boards as usual because they always went silky smooth with her and Pete in charge and the Friday off for the national teams would have been much better on the Sunday instead. Possibly em extra day scheduled would help things run more smooth? I tried playing mini's but it was tricky getting signed up with all the chaos going on and tables being available.

In terms of the concrete, that seems to be typical for venues now but it was carpeted in Vegas when I was there in 2011. Tables were great and cyclops balls are fun for a change. I did think the table arrangement made it tough to get around without disturbing someone during a match. All in all the competition was friendly and fun, I've gotten to know many players from being to numerous nationals and I know many were happy with everything but a pile of people voiced their opinions about the layout and the floors. Please don't take this the wrong way, I enjoyed getting away, playing in the league I like best and staying at the nicest hotel I've ever been to in my life. Cheers Sam

I'll jsut throw this out there regarding hard/cement floors; People need to wear good sneakers (tennis shoes/running shoes/etc).

In my experience, unless the floor is carpeted, it makes a huge difference if you wear sneakers that provided good cushioning and support. A hard floor is only an issue if you wear crappy shoes with no cushioning or walk around barefoot.

Good choice on the Nashville Gaylord Opryland. IMO, that is one of the nicest venues in the country, short of Vegas. For that matter, Nashville offers a bunch of nightlife options within a 15-20 minute ride. Did I mention that poolplayers like nightlife?

Tom Kennedy

Great show all weekend long, Tom.
The excitement from that end of the room was heard all over the event center.
You are excellent at engaging the crowd and a good time was certainly had by all. Anyone who had the good fortune to experience it left with good memories and their money's worth.
Whether you bought in to the "TKO'd by Tommy" promotion, the break contest, or experienced the juggling, you did not leave unsatisfied; or at least no one I talked to did.
And excellent work, Sam for your part in the festivities as well.
Welcome to the TAP Family, Tom Kennedy.
You are a very welcome addition.~ Bill Varkonyi
