The BEST thing I can hope for is that the recent announcements are true but a close second is that those few brave souls who spent two grand plus expenses to enter "walkover" qualifiers...where only a couple of players showed up will get to Vegas in December for their shot at the dream.

I turned down the last three calls I got from the IPT as a player sponsor. GUTSY moves you guys. I hope the bet pays off for you.

Jim,

If you read his most recent e-mail again, slowly and carefully, you will see he contradicts himself in the space of two paragraphs. It's almost like he is just making this stuff up as he goes along. Scary.

Little has been talked about the qualifier entrants and their backers, who have collectively contributed and risked a hell of a lot based on the promise of a 2007 season with a guaranteed 100k in earnings.

This represents a $15 million promise which was the cornerstone of IPT's marketing to players and qualifier participants.

It is therefore a promise that must be met, else every qualifier entrant and 2006 member will have cause to seek compensation.

Given recent concerns, it needs to be addressed asap by the IPT.

First things first. Let him make good on the $3 million he already owes. And as far as the 100K guarantee to each player, I will make my own prediction tonight. It won't happen!

And I'm willing to bet MR. T. 100K that he doesn't make good on this offer by the end of calendar year 2007. One caveat though. He must post the 100K, and I will to. I have reason to believe he might welch on this bet.

You've got balls Jay, I'll give you that:D

Perhaps it would be a good idea to set up a www.Tradesports.com contract on this. It usually provides a pretty accurate indicator of the probability of such events and it could be an effective way for players to take out insurance on their earnings in 2007.

It really is one of those meaningless bets that will never take place.

If KT calls him on it then Jay justs backs out.

They're not going to be playing in Vegas in Dec. They're going to try to piggy back that tournament to the one in Nov in Chicago... I don't think anyone would've had a problem with that except that they've yet to announce it & they still have the Wynn on their website... people have or will buy tickets and rooms for Vegas because they haven't announced it. Total lack of respect for for folks and their families... it'll be Thanksgiving wkend....
 
They're also trying to schedule the KOTH to be in March, not Dec and in Chicago, not Vegas. If in fact there is a buyer, this might change but the odds of the KOTH being in March in Chi are far higher than being in Dec in Vegas. But again, they're not telling people and they haven't changed their website. :rolleyes:

If they hold the KOTH in March, I'll bet that they have it at the same time Allen Hopkins will be having the expo in Valley Forge and I'm sure they'll tell us that was the ONLY week they could get. :rolleyes:
 
If I was even considering the gamble of entering a qualifier and sending in 2,000 $$$ it would be the last, closest qualifier to Chicago so that I could stop payment on my CCard within plenty of time.

I would LOVE for the players to be paid and for Chicago to happen. These posts were made going under the assumption that it will happen. I'm playing "what if" here. I will not believe that the players are getting paid until they have cash money in hand. Period. End of story.

I will not believe that these other events will take place until the players are paid and the events are then scheduled. So far the only event that they currently have scheduled that stands a snowballs chance in hell of actually happening in the city and on the date that it's planned for is Chicago next month.

If the IPT were to continue, the rest of the tournaments and their venues are all up in the air as to when & where they'll happen.

If he calls me on it, he has a bet! I will post up with an escrow account where we both put in 100K. He won't though, don't worry. It's as likely to happen as for you to play Banks with me for 500 a game.

Any idea where, on the IPT site, it lists the folks who have qualified for the Tour Card qualifier? I've poked around a bit but no luck.

I'm told that a fellow here in Denver that I know went and won a qualifier, I just wanted to find out for sure. :)

Edit: Never effin' mind, ten seconds after I post this, I find it. :D

And yes, my pal got in - both him and the OTHER guy who signed up. :/

Yes a lot of people spent a lot of money on the promise but only two qualified. The others were eliminated. Interesting question if they could legally claim any damages. I expect they could if the 2007 guarantee turns out to have been a hoax.

I just think it would be totally cool for those players who qualified simply by putting up their money without having to break a single rack get something in return for their courage.
