TAR 1 Hole Tonight...Shot Colck?

Hope not. A shot clock and 1-pocket do not work that well. You sometimes have to really look at a shot and the angles to get a good return safe or a precise multi-rail lag kick.
Furthermore it is only a race to 7. That is a short set and with a shot clock the match could be over very quickly with a shot clock.

It took Corey and I believe Appleton over 5 hours to play a race to 5 at the CSI 1 hole tournament. Johnnyt
Johnny, the last few TAR all arounds have featured a shot clock. I bet the same conditions will be in place tonight. In my opinion it has not negatively influenced the level of play.

Seems like there actually may not be a shot clock in effect tonight. It hasn't been mentioned, but Jay did say there was not a referee present. Typically Bill Stock is there to run the shot clock, call hits etc. If he's not there they may not be using the clock. I don't think it's really been much of an issue. The set is taking a long time, but it's not really due to stalling by the players.

Darren up 5-4 with the break. They are both playing awful. If Efrin were playing either one tonight he could give them 10-5. Its painful to watch it is so slow. Stream is great quality and announcers are great. Ill be ready for more action in 8 and 9 ball.

How about both a shot clock and a game clock for One-Pocket? The guy who is ahead after x minutes wins the game. That would introduce some new tactics!
Oh, it would work OK; just give them a couple of extensions per game. Anything would be better than a 2-hour wedge game.
I am surprised you don't know about shot clock one pocket events. You are the king of all data. I THINK that there were some but I am not sure.
But essentially a chess clock would be the way to go. I know Grady did some events where all the balls would spot if more than five (iirc) went past the head string. And others have done events where the race is to a certain number of balls rather than by the game.
One pocket has a lot that can be done to enhance it I think. James Walden has shown me a powerful way to play one pocket that has a lot of offense mixed with deadly defense.
Yes, I'm aware that shot clocks have sometimes been used. See post #4 above. And the use of chess clocks has been discussed before (not just for One-Pocket), but I have not seen a game played that way (although I'd like to).
Can you say more about the format Walden mentioned? Maybe you and Lou can use it!:smile:
