The Action Report is excited to announce TAR 25: Hatch vs Dechaine presented by OB Cues and sponsored by Simonis Cloth and CueSports International. This match features two of best players in the U.S., Dennis Hatch will be facing off against Mike Dechaine in a Ten Ball match at the TAR Studio in Las Vegas, NV May 4,5 and 6 if necessary.

The match format is Ten Ball race to twenty five. Mike and Dennis will play one set a day. The first player to win two sets wins the match. This is the first TAR match in our new model of players playing for a prize fund put up by The Action Report. The prize fund is $5000 with winner receiving $4000 and the loser $1000. This new model follows the one used by boxing and mixed martial arts. The new way of doing things will allow TAR to create more exciting match ups more often than than the past model of requiring players to post high entry fees.

TAR 25 will take place the weekend before the start of the BCAPL National Tournament in Las vegas Nevada. The match will be played in the TAR Studio on a Diamond Pro Am nine foot table with Simonis 860 cloth and 4 1/8 inch pockets. Jump cues are allowed, winner breaks and the Magic Rack will be used. Start time for each days play is 7 PM Eastern.

TAR 25 will available to watch live via streaming pay per view on theactionreport.com. The price is $15 per day or $35 for the entire match. Each days play will loop on the PPV stream until 5 PM Eastern the next day. In the event that the match ends after two days then the entire match will loop on the third day for 24 hours. For information on how to watch the streaming PPV please visit theactionreport.com and view the PPV FAQ section. There will be extremely limited seating in the TAR Studio for this match. Seating info will posted soon on theactionreport.com

The Action Report would like to thank our presenting sponsor OB Cues as well as match sponsors Simonis Cloth and CueSports International. Thanks to their support and that of the many TAR fans we are able to continue bring exciting match ups featuring the worlds best players. Please join us the first weekend in May for TAR 25: Hatch vs Dechaine presented by OB Cues. It's sure to be a great match.

Mike and Dennis have been jousting back and forth for awhile now. Mike is looking to cement himself in the upper echelon and Dennis wants to prove he is still the monster of the north eastern U.S. This should be a good one.

Pretty even match IMO. I like the 7 pm. est start time. Race to 25, two out of three seems like best format for TAR matches. $15 a set/day is a fair price with the loop for old farts like me that fall asleep. Ya can't beat it with a stick...I'm in. Johnnyt

Great matchup.
Dennis is always one of my favorites to watch but Mike's a friend.

GO MIKE!!!!

I like the format and it's nice to see different players (read players other than SVB) in TAR matches. I'll buy this one. Thanks.

With our new model of posting prize funds and not requiring 10k per player to have a match it will allow us to create more matches with a wider array of players.

Shane isnt going anywhere though.

:D

Can count me in for the stream of this, great match-up tar. Cant wait to watch Mike rack for 20 mins. lol

it's like a dream isn't it. it just keeps getting better and better doesn't it. (i couldn't resist playing with the quote on keith's b-day)
i really think you are on to something good here to promote more matches. as always, thanks for the work.

That wont happen.

We are using the Magic Rack. No BS. Plus the beauty of us putting up the prize fund is we have a say in what and how the game is played. There wont be long periods of time spent fooling with the balls between racks. they will put them in the magic rack and break them.

Darn I woulda loved to see this one with a normal rack. The drama and controversy would be priceless. How about play one of the two days with a normal rack. Then again maybe all pool will be more fun to watch. Theyre gonna run out a whole lot.

How about having the ref do the racking (with the Magic Rack)?

Might be the closest Tar match yet.

Very good match up, they are both equally talented players. I really think with the longer the matches going to 25 that Dennis might grind out a victory with knowledge and experience.

But I think if they both play their best games that Dennis is a considerable favorite. But it will be hard for the players to hit that high gear with the tough diamond.

So ya I really think overall this will be a close match with a lot of safety play. Can't wait, good luck to both.

This, I think, will really help TAR in the long run. Races to 100 are no good for viewers, imo. If I watch too much pool, I'll just quit watching and start playing myself. Further, being able to have more frequent events will really help with promotion and keep TAR on folks' minds. That's a good thing, as I want TAR to be around for a long time!

Cheers TAR,

JL

Great match up.

Just a little more background on Hatch & Dechaine, for those that haven't been following closely:

Dennis Hatch is considered "Mr. Joss Tour". Why? Well, he plays the tour stops like his personal ATM machine; Dennis practically wins every one of them. The Joss tour may be one of the strongest regional tours, attracting Pro level players, along with a contingent of highly skilled, top regional players. Hatch has also qualified for a recent Mosconi Cup USA team.

If there were one Joss Tour player that would be an heir apparent and challenge to Hatch's crown, that would be Mike Dechaine. Dechaine has a monster break and will fire the balls in from anywhere. I don't think there is a shot he isn't comfortable firing at. Dechaine also was a recent Mosconi Cup USA team player.

Two former Mosconi Cup players, two guys that will fire at the hole, what's not to like?
