TAR 25: Hatch vs Dechaine Presented by OB Cues sponsored by Simonis Cloth and CSI

when are players going to be playing on the 10ft table? then we will see who really is the best..

There will be a FIRE FIGHT!

How about having the ref do the racking (with the Magic Rack)?

Here's my thinking on that particular subject: These guys are supposed to be pros. TAR will treat them like professionals and expect them to live up to that title. That means put the balls in the rack and play pool. Its not hard. I dont expect any problems. Also we are not going to pay someone to watch their every move incase someone screws up. If a hit needs to be called I'll call it.

I'm a firm believer in that you get the behavior you accept. Set the standard, let it be known what that standard is reward those who meet it and do not do business with those who fail to live up to it. We all talk about changing the game for the better. This is our tiny little way of trying to do that. We just expect professionals to act like professionals.

At some point there are supposed to be few Diamond 10 footers in the wild. When those tables actually exist we will probably do something on one. Right now as far as I know they are a pile of parts in southern Indiana.

yes very true still being made,be done for Tunica and the fat boy challenge, we was hoping they would have one done by the bca in May, but spoke to Greg and be ready for Tunica.. Be interesting once they are built for some challenges.

Hatch

Hatch all the way. Dechaine stands no chance. But since he will be getting $1000.00 for second place maybe he will give me the $100 he has owed for for three years. Chump. PS. Don't make side bets with him, he dosn't pay!

Not a fan of exhibition matches where EVERYONE wins. Totally different than gambling. I hope TAR doesn't do this type of format in any future one-pocket matches. Exhibitions are slightly more interesting than funsies.

It's really not that different than a match played for $20,000. The only real difference is the loser is being compensated for their time. I am willing to bet that they will be playing just as hard as they would if someone were staking both guys.

The winner will get about the same as he would if he were staked, and the loser gets a small compensation, but $1,000 is not enough money for the guy to sit back and cash in. If the loser made a substantial amount I might be able to see your point, but IMO it's just enough to get them in the box and playing hard to try and win the cash.

I guess we will see how it plays out. Either way, I will be watching.

Great match up.

Just a little more background on Hatch & Dechaine, for those that haven't been following closely:

Dennis Hatch is considered "Mr. Joss Tour". Why? Well, he plays the tour stops like his personal ATM machine; Dennis practically wins every one of them. The Joss tour may be one of the strongest regional tours, attracting Pro level players, along with a contingent of highly skilled, top regional players. Hatch has also qualified for a recent Mosconi Cup USA team.

If there were one Joss Tour player that would be an heir apparent and challenge to Hatch's crown, that would be Mike Dechaine. Dechaine has a monster break and will fire the balls in from anywhere. I don't think there is a shot he isn't comfortable firing at. Dechaine also was a recent Mosconi Cup USA team player.

Two former Mosconi Cup players, two guys that will fire at the hole, what's not to like?

Eric

Since you are helping out people who haven't been following to closely
Dennis Hatch didn't just qualify for a recent Moscni Cup he was the MVP. As far as winning every Joss Tour stop, Bucky was honored as the Joss Tour player of the year last year, not Hatch but he does win a lot of them.
That stuff about Mike Dechaine being heir apparent he just doesn't play in that many of them. Just helping out people who haven't been following to closely

It is different. Lots, may I say most of the time the 2 parties will just agree to a 50/50 split. And god forbid if they here of heavy sidebetting, I dont even want to go there.

So yes it is WAY different

I am with you on this I love the format and I think there is a great incentive for both to perform this will be the first TAR match I will purchase I am just a little concerned about the pocket size I think that's (4 1/8) is going to handcuff these 2 great shooters but if they agreed to it so be it . and if it is new cloth and they don't have the humidity problems like here in Florida It might not be so bad either way I am in and its going to be a great excuse to invite some members over and party:thumbup:

Jumping Joe,

I wish you were not so cynical.

There is a lot of idfference between getting $1,000 or getting $4,000.
This is not an exhibition - the players will try hard to win.
That gets them more money, bragging rights, and a future match!
If any of the players do 'chop', they will both be banned from any future events - and please remember that includes CSI events.

If the players think they can 'get away with it' - they should know better. The truth always comes out.

It is just not true what you say: "may I say most of the time the 2 parties will just agree to a 50/50 split".

So how about some encouragement for the concept?

Are you saying that most exhibitions agree to a 50/50 split? I get what you're saying and I will agree that it happens, but my point is that it may be different with TAR.

Justin and Mark addressed this at some point in the podcasts. I believe they said something to the effect that if they hear of chopping going on that those players won't be participating with TAR or CSI in the future. I don't want to put words in their mouth, but it was at least similar to that.

Mark I hope you are right and they dont chop, ever. It would help billiards completely. But until the players themselves quit looking for easiest payday im not so sure. I hope you're onto something here.

Well I never heard that part about what they mentioned about chopping. Not everyone has time to watch a podcast. If so thats great. Just be ready to enforce it on ALL that you hear does it.

I hope.it works out for the best.

Jumping Joe,

Thanks for the nice thoughts.

Chopping ruins pool and the players are going to have to understand that they are the losers.

The pro players in US are starving! If they elect to 'chop' in one of our events, they will probably have to find a new occupation.

They will be banned from TAR events and CSI events.
That covers a lot of ground: US Open One Pocket, US Open 10-Ball, Jay Swanson Memorial, US Bar Table Championships, all BCAPL regional events and banned from amateur league play.

PLUS other future events we are working on.

I hope no one tries . . .

Justin and Mark....thanks for putting on a great match..I follow the Joss tour and your podcasts and matches....You guys are great and real. Both of these guys are sharks I can wait. Thanks again ..

Wow that's a strong statement about being banned. That's what I call a kick in the gut gut check
