TAR 31 Podcast w/Shane and Mike+Guest Host Jennifer Barretta 9PM Tonight. Questions?

...

Interesting 2 note that Shane mentioned the fact that the smaller
pocket kept him and other players from attempting certain shots that
are normal for the Pros.

...

Why? I can do stuff on a valley bar box that I would not attempt on 9 ft diamond....

or another way to look at it, if your game is based on a VERY strong break, great shot making skills and packages, why would you like tight pockets best?

If your game is more about the cue ball (position play, safety, kicking) and controlling the table, why would you prefer bigger pockets... (I am not saying Mike is in the latter ... ok)

A blend of all of the above and you have a stone killer, I give you Dennis Orcollo. (for my money)

Yes. The days match will run on a loop until two hours before the next days play begins.

If the match ends after two days. Then both days will loop all day Sunday and Monday.

But what if by some bizarre turn of events, it does go two days? Like for example, a meteor hits Russia right before an asteroid almost hits Earth? Will Sunday's match be streamed all day Monday? If so, for how long?

I can't watch Sunday since my daughter and her family will be here. Will my wife and I be able to watch it Monday evening?

Oh, screw it. I'm saving the $5. No way is it gonna take three days for Shane to dismantle this guy.;)

If the match ends Saturday then Saturdays play will loop until 6 PM EST Sunday at which point Friday and Saturday matches will both loop until 6PM EST Monday.

Last night? Shane won both the Rotation and the One-hole. Mike was firing an air-barrel, though. Turns out he doesn't have 30 seconds worth of good things to say about anybody.:D

I got my days confused I thought the first matches last night but today is Friday. I'm definitely getting on there going to watch that match tonight. I got to be honest with you guys I'm excited. The pressure is on shane....

I appreciate everyones reply's and questions (even the troll in the I Hug Earl Balls tshirt) The bad news is the whole damn forum was offline last night during the podcast so I had no way to access the questions for the players. We had to wing it at the last minute and Jen took questions off a Facebook post.

The podcast is up now on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVKbOHJZ-U4&feature=youtu.be

TAR 31 starts today at 8 PM Eastern.

Sorry to hear that but everyone did a great job in spite of any curve balls.

Very much appreciated.

...and was it just me or did Mike say a number of time he doesn't practice very much until the day before because his adversely affects his game?!?

I don't remember him saying that he thought it adversely affected his game. I thought it was more of he's just not that into practicing. Although we may not be able to take his word for it because he also said he aims completely by feel about 15 seconds before describing a very technical and, for me at least, confusing aiming system that he uses.

Wasn't he just being facetious when he made the first comment?

Personally, I don't think there is any other way to actually "aim" in a conventional sense than by using the shaft in some way. Everything else appears to be some variation/combination of visualization and feel.

question for shane and mike

Last year at sbe, I was sitting with mike, cory deuel, my good friend rodney morris and a few other pros watching raj hundal I'm the semis late Saturday night. Mike was talking about southwest cues

My question is do shane and mike have a cue collection? If so, can they talk about some of their prize possessions, some heavy hitters, cue makers they like to collect outside of their sponsers cuetec and predator.

Thanks and I hope to see you play ay sbe this year

Ive always bought the DVDs from TAR in the past and never bought a stream... this is my first one.

Justin,

Will there by any USBs or DVDs of this TAR match available for purchase?

USB's are an interesting option I need to look into. There will not be any DVD's made.

I spoke with another video on demand web magician this week and have some hope progress will be made.

It official I'm a loser. My secretary tried all morning to get me a last minute flight down to Vegas. Ugh. Now I must buy stream. Everyone should support TAR and buy now. This is going to be good. MD might just be delusional enough to pull it off. I don't think so but it might happen. Thats why they play the games.

Yeah I thought that was weird too, since I knew I had heard of her more than 3 years ago. I think maybe she meant that she had only been playing 3 years when she turned pro. I remember from an ESPN broadcast one time that she did take up the game relatively late in life.

I think she was making a joke about her age, like someone saying it's been her 29th birthday for 10 years. She should have said it with more of a wink but she played it a little too straight and the irony didn't come off very well. She's not 32, she's in her 40s.

Maybe I was inferring something from the statement about trying shots he normally wouldn't take or to spin shots around the table - something. But really got the feeling he's not a practice kind of guy. Maybe his Mosconi teammates would attest to that... :sorry:

That was a ballsy question from Jenn to Dechaine: "You're probably the most loathed player in the history of the sport. How do you feel about that?" To his credit, he didn't go on tilt.

• An honest to goodness question ("all in fun") during the Podcast:

Yeah you're right he did mention that he starts doing a lot more spin shots and stuff he wouldn't normally shoot in a match.
