TAR 34 Download

It was my understanding the TAR 34 1-Pocket match between Efren and Shane could be viewed as a stream for a year or downloaded and saved on a computer. I have satellite Internet which puts a 10 Gig cap on my anytime monthly traffic both up and down. They also have a free zone late at night (2AM to 8AM) that I can use without affecting my monthly cap. I understand this file is somewhere around 15 Gigs which exceeds my anytime cap. So I wanted to download it late at night and watch it at a more convenient time. I paid the fee and attempted the download but got an error message saying the file is corrupt. I can stream it but that means I'll have to watch it late at night or use up my allotted bandwidth. Neither is something I want to do unless absolutely necessary.
My questions are, has anyone attempting this download had the error message occur? If so were you able to find a way to download the file? Maybe there something I am missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
And I apologize for the long winded plea for help.

Use the VLC media player to view the file.

Its free and legit. Go here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

Download the free player install it, open the file with it and will play.

Its what I use and what I have started putting in the notes for the videos as the recommended player.

I use Internet Download Manager integrated with Google Chrome to download, and VLC to play.

IDM gives you a 30 day trial, then its $29.99. VLC has always been not only free, but the best.

I've downloaded the 8 ball and 10 ball so far, both went well.

1 Pocket is 15.5G, 8 ball is 9.9G and 10 ball is 8.9G.

To clarify, if you downloaded the whole 15 gb (check file size on your PC) then it's just a question of getting a better movie playing program such as VLC.

If the filesize is wrong the file is actually incomplete/corrupted and likely you'll have to start again from scratch. If you get a download manager (chrome plugin, flashget/flashgot, etc.) you can prevent this from happening again... the download program will ensure you get all 15 gigs. I'm gonna actually recommend against getting IDM. It's a pretty good program, but there's plenty of free software that can do this particular task.

Another possibility is to stream it and record the stream using capture software, but for various reasons this probably won't be practical. If you have no luck with the above options, send me a message and I can help with another possible fix.

Has anybody bought it using paypal? I haven't been able to.

When I click the "or use paypal" button, it comes back with a screen saying the information is incorrect, even thouth I haven't entered anything yet.

VLC is the nuts on any platform. They should rename it. IPA (I Play Anything). Any format. Codecs. Huge File Sizes. The thing just eats them and plays like PACMAN.

Still no luck

Still not able to download the file. I can watch the video on the website but if I click the "Download Now" button it opens a new page with an error message:
"Video can't be played because the file is corrupt".
I downloaded the VLC Media Player hoping it would have a down-loader or something but it doesn't.
BTW Maxx I paid for mine with PayPal and had no problem other the the one I'm having downloading the file. But I don't think the issues are related.
If anyone can shed some light on this I will be ever so grateful.
Thanks.

Might be a bad file. I downloaded along with the SVB instructional series that are available. The Shane files play fine and can even stream them from PC to TV or just use the Vimeo account on my media player. But the One pocket match gets to the 33 minute mark and just stops. Cant even convert the file and burn it to a dvd says unknown file format. Which i can convert and burn any file esp a MP4 file format which it says it is.

But was able to download it on my end but only opens with VLC player

How U do It

TheConArtist:
How did you initiate the download?
I have been clicking on the "Download Now" button and getting the error message. I even started the stream and was watching the video then clicked on the button. It still came up with the error.
I'm wondering if there may be some other way people are initiating the download. Are you downloading from the TAR site or maybe from Vimeo with a link. If that's the case could someone clue me in? I'm at a complete loss.

There is the watch now button and below the download button. You right click and save target as, and choose where to save it too. Must right click

This is why I do not guarantee the download. The files are huge and its an oddball way that I to convert them to do it in a workflow that is reasonable. The format plays perfect on Vimeo and in VLC but is a pain with anything else due to the conversion process used to get the files down from 100GB +. I am saying this to press home the point that this system is designed as a streaming delivery method. The download is simply a courtesy for those who want to try it and can get it to work.

The fact your file stops sounds like it is corrupted. Something that is easy to do on such a large download.

Are you saying the one pocket does not work for you when you go to Vimeo and watch it there ?

I agree with you CreeDo, I used to have some pretty good download managers but just didn't remember which ones.

I went with IDM to save myself the frustration of searching and getting all the junk that comes with most "free" programs before finding the good ones.

Download the latest VLC Media Player version, try running it with that player. It was the only way I could get it to play.

Another thing to try if you can't even start the download, get a download manager and/or try it with another browser. Satellite has bad latency which could be enough in your case to cause lost packets and slow enough ping times that the computer things there is an issue with the file.

No the video plays on the vimeo but only on the computer or ipad. But i have the WDTV live which has a app for vimeo. Which i can stream to the tv and it only goes to the 30 minute mark then stops but just does it on the media player. I watched it on the PC though so no problem.

Finally. I Hope

After a PM from CreeDo it got me to thinking about using some other equipment. So I went to my old XP machine with an older version of Mozilla Firefox and tried the download. It looks as though it will work just fine. I'll have to wait until later tonight so I won't affect my monthly bandwidth allotment.
Why it didn't work with Win 7 and the latest version of Firefox is anyone's guess. I really have no idea. I'm glad I kept the old machine though. It has saved me on several occasions.
But if by chance it doesn't work I'll post again tomorrow otherwise thanks to all who responded to my plea for help.
