Dennis told me that he could sometimes hear us talking but he ignored it as well. He said it never bothered him in any way. I think our voices, quiet though they are, become mere background chatter to the players.

He's used to roosters, balut vendors and noisy jeepneys outside the pool halls.:D
He's playing in an AC'd room on a pristine Diamond table . Two chatty commentators won't bother him a bit . :D

I didn't think it would bother him....after watching the videos of playing over seas in the pavillion (chickens, 100 people 4 feet from the table) I don't think anything would bother him. Again I was just reposting what Daz had posted earlier in the thread. JCIN had said he didn't know of it being a problem and someone should say something to him....so I just reposted his just in case he didn't see it. Now Dennis has also said he could hear it as well, so it is what it is. I am used to playing in noisey pool rooms with everyone talking about the game and players. I tune it out or use my Ipod. By the way I love the TAR matches and any commentating that you are in. Good job! Jay I have said before I am a fan of you and all that you do for pool.

Thanks for this suggestion. It's very constructive. I will make sure to do more of this in the future. Darren is engaged to a beautiful lady named Angie and they are getting married later this year. They have a new home in Pennsylvania, close to Philly. Dennis is married to Ronah and they have two kids and live in a private, gated community in Quezon City, a suburb of Manila. I will do more of this personal background stuff in the future!

Cheers Jay, and thanks for taking it well. It came out pretty critical
but I'll take you in the booth over 99.99% of the rest of the world any day.
If TAR ever does Darren vs. Dennis II, I'll be all over it.

Just give each player and ipod and some earbuds. Justin could preload it with their favorite music such as Adele, Elton John, Rod Stewart and the Beatles for Daz and Journey for Dennis. They won't hear the commentators at all.

Adele and Rod Stewart? Good stuff sir.

If Jays mic was low when you were watching it was because he has a tendency to fluctuate wildly in volume. See any of the daily intro's. He doesnt know he does it but it can blow up a mic sometimes when I adjust for it by pulling a slider back I dont put it back because something else pops up in the meantime. Thus low audio on Jay's mic.

No one said anything to me in the chat so I guess it didnt bother too many people.

I would like to put my vote in for the next TAR match commentators. Billy Incardona and Jay Helfert. I love Robert LaBlanc also, but Billy I. is the Chick Hearn of pool commentating, and is the master at describing what's happening at the table...It really adds to the excitement of the match with Billy in the booth. He is such an experienced pro and did such a great job all those years with Accu-Stats. He is also very good with Interviewing players as I have seen many times in the past with several players. It really adds to the excitement of the event, when Billy adds in the interviews. I remember one year at the DCC he was interviewing many players after their matches and it is truly a bonus!!

pool halls in PI are normally noisy, especially those where people do per-rack betting - people literally shout to call for bets. not to mention halls along the road or those where people continuously walk and pass by the table while you play. these are normal. i think you can even put a karaoke machine inside the room and i'm sure dennis would just ignore it. (kidding) :)
