Make It Happen -Ideas to talk about on podcast
Positive ways to increase pool numbers
View pool as a new commissioner coming in and starting over, what do you have; a few leagues with thousands of players each , a million homes with a pool table in the basement? sounds like a good starting point, now how do you start -at the ground floor, young kids high school club-college club:
Have APA/BCA/TAP put out a packet and send it to every school athletic director explaining the benefits of adding pool to the sports curriculum along with instructions on how best to run a pool league(funding for brochure by pool table/cue maker who would make a killing on sales. And pool halls could work with schools to hold practice, run events)
TV/ Web TAR match ideas:a doubles game -Celebrity teamed with pro, 3 set pro v pro, celeb v celeb, mixed v mixed. playboy of the month vs others in a strip pool match.
Justin said in the last podcast he could use some programmer help. Interns are begging for experience and schools need places to place the kids for free. win-win for everybody.
Podcast ideas - Interview the head of brunswick to see what they are going to do to win back the table crown. Interview diamond head, ask when they will design a table an avg or nonpool person would like to own.
Have pros come on and try out new equipment, show differences in shafts, chalk, etc. With all these new shafts by Predator, OB, Mezz, McDermitt, Tiger, how does the average person know where to turn?
Have seyberts public relations on and talk about top sellers, maybe they give a podcast discount.
Invite Predator, OB, Mcdermitt, others to come on and explain why their shaft is the best, ask when the next new cues/shafts will be coming out, what they plan to do to get better. Before guest comes on run polls on what peoplel like, would like to see improved for next product wave.
Get sponsors on board to have matches showing ob guys vs predator guys, mcdermitt guys vs custom guys. could have a yearly sponsorship series tourney.
Try to get an interview with nike, sports companies not currently in pool to show them how there is an interest -benefit(quarterly profits) for them to enter cue making.
How do you get the average person to turn into a pool match? There are so many fans who would love to see Tony Romo battle Tom Brady in a pool match that your severs would melt down. Would work for all sports, nascar would be huge. Probably could even get them to play matches friday night before races, would be good for both sports. There are enough professional athletes and celebrities looking to expand their brand and get their names/face in front of a camera that you should have any trouble setting up matches. who wouldn't pay big bucks to watch phil vs tiger go at it on the green felt?
Have tar show college teams playing against each other.
Everyone seems to talk about how we need another 'Color of Money' type film to boost the sport, well get an interview with tom cruise, film makers, and other actors who worked on the last one, get them excited to get at it.
Make it happen. If it's going to be, it's up to me. It's going to happen, because I'm going to make it happen. (This means more than just Mark and Justin!) and if this should be a different topic on the forums, I apologize
