THAT WAS WHY I TOLD YOU I DIDN'T WANT TO SELL IT. I PUT A LOT OF HOURS ON THAT CUE, AND BOY DID SHE SING. I LOVE THE PLAYING CUE I'M USING NOW, BUT THIS WAS A GOOD ONE. NOW THAT IT'S BACK IN THE STATES, I'M SURE SHE'LL COME BACK HOME TO ME ONE DAY, THEY ALL SEEM TO.

Marcus

It was a big mistake to let this one go

Marcus, is this Afzelia burl I see there? Very nice! That's a relatively new Tasc by the son, not the father, correct?

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

How can we tell if it's father or son?

I'm leaning towards the dashes with the signature is the father and the little circles/ovals either filled in or hollow is the son?

Berny, You sure have some gems, My friend..:thumbup::thumbup:
As i said Cue has been SOLD....Thanks for all interests....
Regards
Peter

I don't know (or else I would not have asked). I'm really judging by the choice of material, overall appearance, complexity of inlay work (also never seen a Pete Sr. with a butt plate like that, nor with the signature on it), in other words, I was guessing. This is what Pete Senior's signature looks like on my 1989 cue (sorry for the quality, don't have the equipment to take great close-ups):

IT'S CURLY BUBINGA.

BOTH PETE SR AND PETE JR WORK ON THE CUES, AND HAVE FOR MANY YEARS.

YOU CAN'T, AND THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE.

THE SIGNATURES COME OUT DIFFERENTLY ALL THE TIME. CAN YOU IMAGINE PUTTING A TINY TRANSFER ON WOOD?

I GET ASKED THIS QUESTION A LOT, AND HAVE ASKED BOTH PETES. THEY HAVE TOLD ME NUMEROUS TIMES, THERE IS NO MEANING TO THE DOTS, DASHES, CIRCLES, LINES, THAT ARE ASIDE OF THE SIGNATURE.

PETE JR HAS BEEN WORKING WITH PETE SR FOR A LONG TIME, AND THEY WORK ON THE CUES TOGETHER. THAT'S WHY THEY ARE "TASCARELLA CUSTOM CUES" NOT PETE TASCARELLA SR CUES.

I HOPE THIS HELPS

Marcus

P.S. THE OLD HAND SIGNED CUES, ARE THE ONLY "VARIATION" OF THE SIGNATURE THAT MATTER. THOSE CUES ARE EARLY 80's OR OLDER.

Marcus, do you know how long they've been working together as a team (= since when)? It certainly seems to me that there is a significantly greater output of fancy cues today then back when I met Pete Senior and bought my cue. Back in 1989, he told me he much preferred making simple Plane Jane cues, maybe with the classic glitter ring (I'm not sure he used the term "lazy" himself, but I do remember Jerry Franklin once did - LOL! - in fact, he wondered how many cues per year someone has to make to be thought of as in the business), so that mine was considered fancy back then - relatively speaking. I really only had the choice to wait, as Pete basically only made cues if he didn't do well enough playing (tournaments etc.), or buy the one I have, which he'd made for a friend, who was, let's put it the Swiss way, insolvent when it was finished.

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

SINCE THE 90'S.

THE CUES BEING ORDERED/REQUESTED HAVE BECOME FANCIER AND FANCIER THROUGH THE YEARS. THERE ARE FANCY CUES FROM ALL THE ERAS, AT LEAST ONE I POSTED IN THE THREAD IS PRIOR TO YOUR CUE. JUST LIKE IN ANYTHING ELSE, EVOLUTION TAKES TIME, AND THE TASCARELLA CUE SHOP HAS EVOLVED THROUGH THE YEARS.

I'VE HAD SEVERAL FANCY OLDER CUES, I'LL LOOK FOR PICS, AND SEE IF I CAN POST THEM.

Marcus
