Maybe it has something to do with the ongoing war atrocities in Ukraine. Not Gorst’s fault, but MR probably thinks it is a bad idea to have a Russian citizen represent Europe considering the circumstancesAlcaide over Gorst?
I'd love to hear the rationale for this.
Not sure they'd do this since he was allowed to participate in the US Open and could have quite conceivably won it.Maybe it has something to do with the ongoing war atrocities in Ukraine. Not likely, Fedor went and won the Fargo Open, beating a slew of champions including FSR the weekend after the US Open.. I'd take Fedor over Alcaide or Shaw.more likely it has to do with the US open itself, where he performed poorly.
Although Fedor as a player has all the credentials for Mosconi selection, he was a victim of circumstance this year. The Russian ban denied him many opportunities to build his case. When he finally got to play in his first Matchroom event of 2022 at the US Open 9-ball a couple of weeks ago, he finished a disappointing tied for 33rd, and that likely eliminated his chance at a wild card.
I wouldn't bet against Fedor making the 2023 squad for Team Europe. He'll just have to settle for being #1 on the money list in 2022.
Not sure if it will work but maybe we can slip in this Fredo guyCan Team USA have Fedor, technically Russia is not getting along with Europe.
In terms of Olympic or national recognition Russia does not exist. That means players of Russian descent are now mercenaries and are available for hire.
What the Fargorate and Matchroom rankings and WPA rankings? Not sure if it will work but maybe we can slip in this Fredo guy
