Team USA telling results at the US Open?

Hear, hear. Sky is American gold. Pool has been in the doldrums long enough. We need this player on our Team USA at the Mosconi Cup. Time to stop talking and start chalking. Vote for Sky by letting your voices be heard!

The kid is beating Filipino world champions and Hall of Famers. What does that tell you? Photo courtesy of NYC Grind. of course. :)

I love this picture.
You can tell Bustamante is happy for the kid even though he just lost.
One more reason Busty will always be one of my favorites in the game.

Campaigning for Sky for next years Mosconi Cup is a good idea. I'm sure Mark had his reasons for not picking Sky this year that go beyond him being labeled a one trick pony. Mark has made it clear, months ago, as to the process this year for picking the team. Pushing for a player outside that process only causes more dissension in American pool which I am sure we can all agree is not needed.

Beyond that, people like takeitdown that disrespectfully call someone like Mark Wilson an idiot need to simply learn some respect. It is okay to not agree with someone but Mark Wilson has earned respect from all his accomplishments in pool. To hide behind some Internet fence and throw pot shots is beyond my understanding.

The Mosconi is a team event. I think everyone would agree that Mike DeChaine is the second best talented US player. But his history, whether by truth or exaggeration of his actions, made him crossed off the list this year. I know Mike has worked hard on his game and also on his image to improve on his chances of being chosen next year. People that keep bringing up players such as Mike D and being left off this year simply can't see the forest thru the trees.

That's a good post. Mark Wilson spoke very highly of Mike's game in last night's commentary and when later asked by Jimmy Wych "Which American players have really made an impression at this year's Mosconi?" Mark named Mike Dechaine, so we need not worry that Mike is under Mark's radar.

As you note, it's his intangibles that cost Mike a spot on this year's team, and I'll respect Mark Wilson's judgement here even though it means America's second best player will sit it out this year. Mike knows that's why he wasn't selected and has committed himself to self-improvement. He knows he's a work in progress, but his introspection will pay off. I recall chatting with Darren Appleton about Mike's demeanor in Las Vegas as we sweated a match and Darren commented that "Mike has made some progress in that department."

We all know what kind of player Mike is, but, for now, seeing the forest means focusing on 2014 and wishing this year's Team USA the best.

I love that photo too. :smiling-heart:

I just wanted to hear you say it, to speak his name. Sky!

The thing is, there are only a few 20-somethings in America worth getting excited about. Sky Woodward, Mike Dechaine, Justin Bergman, Justin Hall, Joey Gray, Shannon Murphy. I'm rooting for all of them to succeed. Bet you are, too!

No. Sky is the only 20-something for me.

He will only look like a idiot to idiots. ,,

Right. Picking sub part talent over elite players should work.

This isn't the APA. This country is so full of weak sauce PC BS anymore. Somebody gonna overrun us in a week someday.

Sheep like you are the problem...
