Technology in Cues?

Would cuemakers/cue builders buy embeded components that can be installed in cues to keep track of how long they play, win and losses or even store mp3 music that will be wirelessly transmitted to your bluetooth ear pieces? Just some ideas.

How about custom laser 3D engraved components of clients family photo or any images? Was thinking of offering this services to the cue builders community. The laser machine that I've seen done this is pretty cool and it can imbed 3D images into a clear crystal round stock.

Been thinking about this for a while but personally came to the conclusion that our market is dead so it won't be viable economically and adoption for this may be slow.

Just get a Meucci decal and stick it at the buttplate.:D
 
RFID for cues? Lose a cue just keep your little tag reader on you, walk by everyone's case till it goes beep. Proceed with ass whipping. (There are some holes in this idea)
 
I talked with an individual at the ICCS this year about his idea of micro chipping cues. Very similar to the same idea used in animals, drugs, etc. We just had our dog chipped and with the wave of a wand you instantly know everything about her from owners to medical history.
He is pushing the same idea for cues at roughly 50-60 bucks a pop. The chip is small enough that it could be embeded just about anywhere from between the fore and handle, in the back under the bumper to under an inlay.

Sounds like a good idea but probably still has some flaws I'm unaware of.

It'll ruin the balance of the cue as soon as the googans find out it's there.:D

I would guess that the rfid chip could be defeated rather easily if someone wanted to, and thieves might want to. Is that one of the holes ? In my case the odds are very good that the person whos case beeped will be much larger and likely younger than me too ... another hole in that ass whipping idea :eek: :o .

I don't think it is going to happen. I feel that most players would just see it as an added expense. Every time a person sold or traded a cue the system would need to be updated, at a cost of course. To be honest it is just sad that we have to worry about in this sport.

You have to worry about it in every sport. That's why people write their names in sharpie on basketballs and footballs. Put their initials on the ends of baseball bats. I've heard of several occasions where people lost their golf clubs because of not being more diligent in watching their bag. You are always going to have people who are willing to take something that's not theirs because they think they shouldn't have to work as hard as you did to get it. That's in every facet of our lives, but I do agree with you that it is just sad.
 
I wonder what kind of effect ca or epoxy would have on the circuit. metal rings, stainless collar, magnets, A couple of drops, a night in the car at -10 sounds like a good idea if someone wanted to keep dibs on a high end cue. Register it. The chips in dogs are pretty small right? Is there a battery involved? That proves my ignorance. no battery....
