TELEVISION, what we've all been waiting for.

Joey, what I find confusing on this and related topics is your willingness to speak with such authority on certain aspects of this event, and yet, OTOH, consistently claim that you do not speak on their behalf in any official capacity, oft times referring people to the source, if they want authoritative information. Which is it?

You're saying "no other involvement" with a level of certainty that only someone with an official connection could have. Now, if you are speaking officially for the event I think everyone here has enough respect for you personally to accept that at face value. But, if you're not, then there is room for doubt and discussion.

In either case, there is plenty of room for questioning the level of IPT involvement based upon the broadcast agreement. IOW, you paint it as if there was a handshake somewhere and the IPT just said, "Yeah, here are our coupons for Asia broadcasting hours. Go knock yourself out. Let us know how that went." But I think reasonable people could reasonably assume that, perhaps, there's a bit more to it than that. And for someone that still has any kind of beef with the IPT, that could, reasonably, be an issue and I think that is what is being questioned, in this instance.

Lou-Lou,
When I think I know the truth about something, I will speak the truth as I know it to be. When I don't know the truth about something I speak about, it's just my opinion and nothing more.

Sometimes I refer naysayers to "the source" because I don't have answers to their questions and don't want to spend my time going to the source to get the answers that they can get themselves if they get off their arse.

If you or anyone else has a beef with the IPT, even after all of the millions of dollars they put into players pockets, have at it. Go start a thread about that. You can add my thoughts to that thread when you start it and that is I hope they pay back all of the qualifiers who unjustly lost their money, just like they paid all of the players who earned money in their tournaments.

This thread is about the Herculean efforts of a group of people who are attempting to do something very good for pool and all I see is a small group of people attempting to disseminate innuendos that the IPT is "involved" with The Taylor Road Production people and everything that I have heard, THAT IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE. Now I don't know how much clearer I can be on that subject but I'm really getting tired of repeating myself.

It seems that every time I post some positive information about this tournament you or someone else attempts to diffuse the positive nature of the thread with some potential conspiracy theory "just for discussion".

If you need more information go to www.theworldclassic.com

More press releases will be coming forth in the coming weeks.

OK, so basically what I get from this is that you are not speaking officially, just out your arse :-)

Thanks for clearing that up ;-)

speculation

Here is some speculation on the Asian broadcast deal, speculation I have posted in other threads simply because it makes sense. I'm pretty sure that the Asian network purchased programming from the IPT that they never received and I doubt the IPT ever produces any to deliver to the Asian network.

At that point the IPT has the network's money they don't want to give back and they are promising programming down the road. Along comes Taylor Road with a major event but without the Asian hook-up. If they just want their name out there they agree to provide some of the programming for the IPT and the IPT is out of that much of their commitment to the network. Perhaps Taylor Road even got the IPT to pony up a portion of what they had been paid by the network for this block of programming. Any of these scenarios could be win/win for the IPT and Taylor Road and doesn't indicate any deep involvement, just a business deal that was a good move for both parties.

I have no way of knowing if this is the deal or something very similar to this. However it makes sense once we discover that the IPT still owes a bunch of program time.

Hu

Hu.......could well be completely wrong, but from past experience of the arrangements for televised pool I very much doubt that the network has paid ANYONE at all, including the production company, so much as one dollar for the right to screen any of this action. In fact the network might even be being paid to screen it.

Mike,

In the US I would say you are spot on. I think that KT was in position to receive money for the rights to the events he was supposed to come through with in the Asian market. The programming is far more valuable over there than it is here. However, I am purely speculating. One thing I don't believe is that the IPT folks did a thing for the Taylor Road folks without something being in it for them.

I just want to know one thing Hu. Did you ask Joey first before posting this? :p

Joey's "Love Fest" with this event is very interesting. Seems more like an employee defending their employer.

I am ALL for supporting this event and any other start up event. I WILL NOT, however, go in with blinders on or encourage anyone else to. To ridicule and call people names for pointing out the events own press releases and others for asking questions is, at the very least, bizarre behavior....imo. Especially on a discussion board!

Whenever someone urges me to support anything with blinders on, I'm automatically suspicious and defensive. I think that's human nature. I'll be down at Galveston "supporting" this event in any way that I am able. I hope to see y'all there too!

I hope people involved with the event are more relaxed about things, when we are there, than they have been on the forums!

Minimum, it's gonna be a lot of fun.

I think Joey is going to man the booth some

Ray,

I think Joey is going to work the booth some but no question Joey was supporting this event long before he knew that, it may still not be a cut and dried deal.

As to how people act on the net and when they get together at an event, I've seen it many a time. At each other hammer and tongs and then good buddies enjoying each other's company when they meet at an event. Life's too short and there aren't enough good friends in the world to seriously feud over things like Taylor Road and their production. I'm 99% sure it's going to be worth the trip down there and I have put my horse in the race. Good times, good people, and I'm hoping to make a buck!

Thanks, JoeyA, for providing all the tournament smut, good and bad. I appreciate it.

And I promise never to say "2P" again! :embarrassed2:

I'm still laughing!

By the way, I really appreciate you putting me into all three of those Pro Events. You know I will be putting forth my best effort.

I think we could have made more money in the Amateur events, maybe snagging one of those big money $$$$$ prizes but it sure shows you have a lot of confidence in me. :D

So to summarize:

1) Any new Pool content on any TV media is good.

2) But obscure cable TV coverage is not as good as real, non-cable broadcast coverage, and should never be mistaken for it as some sign of a revolution in the US Pool world. This is just more of the same, a few highly edited hours on a cable channel even more obscure than ESPN. The IPT did the same thing support of entirely fictitious claims of major sponsorship deals and look where it got them.

3) Talking of the IPT, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

4) Seriously, is it not possible the Versus air-time has be re-sold/sub-leased by the IPT just the same as the Asian air-time? It is quite possible there's an un-fulfilled contract out there of air-time for the once-and-forever IPT 2007 season.

5) Deno Andrews was left with his pants down (figuratively of course, unless anything was ever legally proved otherwise) by the collapse of the IPT. Is he still an IPT employee? Should anyone the Pool world take him seriously for a second?

6) It's too much money, and they're an unknown.

7) I propose they put Lou naked in a bear-cage outside the Galveston tournament venue so all those who pass by can prod him with sticks.

8) But the minute any little thing goes wrong Joey gets to go in the cage instead.

9) If they air-barrel the prize purse we drop the cage into Galveston Bay with BOTH of them in it. (Lou will be even more insufferable if he's actually proved right about something.)

Yes, that's right; television as in U.S. Television Broadcasting.

The Galveston World Classic tournament is not only going to be broadcast on television in ASIA but also right here in the good old United States.

This is a MAJOR STEP in the right direction. Taylor Road Production and their movers and shakers deserve a lot of credit for getting this tournament broadcast to over a hundred million households.

You can go to the following link to learn more about this. Leave a comment to Taylor Road Production if you have a thought you care to share.

Maybe you know of a corporation who wants to get in on the ground floor of doing commercials for the television broadcasts.

Is this great or what?

JoeyA

Thanks so much for the great information. I emailed verses feedback@verses.com to thank them and express my wishes to see more and more billiards coverage. Perhaps we all should!

The television broadcasting is the primary road to future financial stability for the pocket billiard world.

Hopefully, people will talk about the televisiona broadcasts amongst friends, at pool rooms, at pool leagues, on blogs, on websites and hopefully some of the information will get leaked to the national news medias and pool will get some of the good press, we all want it to have and finally, people will tune in and the advertisers will like the numbers.

Thanks for your important contribution, Mike! Hopefully, others will continue to send attaboys.
