Tell 'em like it is, Alex!

I was at the tournament venue and I must say everyone including the organizers and the tv crew loved alex!! I haven't seen any Asian 9-ball leg where the crowd was really into it and loving it! Alex brought out the fun in the Singapore leg. I was with Alex and the pinoy contingent most nights they were here.. whether playing pool, poker or having a few beers.. everyone loved Alex! especially when he was break dancing and singing his heart out. :D

Gee, the audience is engaged, applauding, laughing, enjoying themselves as they watch Alex Pagulayan competing in the tournament.

This is the reason the BSCP pulled Alex from the tournament? What a bunch of donks they are. Alex is good for pool. The BSCP made a big mistake, IMHO!

I believe Alex is a good dancer, but that part about his singing ? Umm...........maybe Phoebe can answer that. In my own opinion, the least that BSCP could have done was to confront Alex first and give him the chace to explain his side of the story regarding his antics in the tournament and maybe give him a warning instead of taking him out of the next scheduled leg. And if he were to repeat, then and only then should he be sanctioned. What do you think, Bandido and Jay?

The problem is that the whole clowning business is just a smoke-screen to the real reason.

He pissed somebody for asking too much, or he probably asked for it the wrong way.

Ronnie is a Guinness endorser. I don't think Alex will get a free pass, or else Guinness has to give all the other countries another slot.

If I were one of the Guinness top honchos, I would definitely add Alex as one
of their endorsers. Alex is the total package; he throws a mean stick, he sings,
he dances, he crack jokes, and he drinks beer too! :D

Guinness is an international brand, so they might find themselves accussed of favoritism if they don't sign players from other nations. Unless they drop Ronnie, I don't think they will be willing to sign another Filipino without signing at least someone from Taiwan.

i am also thinking of the same reason... the clown thing is not the real reason why alex was replaced.. they should have did the same way to both efren and django before if that was the real reason :D

Here's what I think and have stuck to from when I started posting in this thread. They, Alex and BSCP, need to have a face-to-face talk! Surprisingly, this hasn't happened yet. As for his inclusion to the team that's going to Shanghai. He isn't in the line-up and the contingent already left for Shanghai. Other players too are given the equal opportunity to earn a living for themselves and Alex is aware of this.
There's no other reason for him to want to be included but the possibility of earning since he's already qualified for the 2007WPC being the 2004WPC Champion. This really leads me to question the "form a new NSA" remark made by Alex. How can this new NSA be better for the other players when this incident shows that he is more concerned of looking after #1, himself? Hopefully I'm wrong because Alex is such a nice guy but running an NSA is a very complicated and expensive operation and not just about putting together events.

Noobie, if you are trying to direct controversy to a certain group then I'd say that this is maliscious and a narrow-minded redirection. Any controversy that happen within our confines affect not but a certain group or sector but the whole of Philippine Pool and eventually will cause a worldwide aftershock. So please don't do that.

<<<I'm commenting to all your posts. If you love the sport then don't cause additional harm or fan the flames.

still there is no enough reason for bscp to do that..alex has been clowning around ever since and im still waiting for answers (not saying that those answers should exactly come from you though) maybe they could give a better reason :D

and no im not trying to direct a controversy on that group.. as you can see my post are always saying "unsure" :)

Yes, a better reason would have been better.

This whole clowning thing is just plain silly.

i guess we should just leave things as it is

alex asked to be compensated

bscp refused; sent someone else in return (clowning around not really a good reason)

alex reacts; treatens to form new group

and that's it. what will come off of it we'll just have to wait and see.....

How's it in my neck of the woods? Poker, poker, and then more poker. :D

No TV stations have ever requested pool players in my area to participate in a TV pilot program. That's for sure.

I would truly love to hear from someone associated with Alex Pagulayan to learn more about why he objected to participating. I can only base my opinion on what I have read.

Is there a Phoebe in the house? :)

Hi JAM,

Yes, I am always lurking :) I've read thru this thread entirely and yes I have spoken with Alex as of yesterday about it. I really don't want to say much about the details because I am not sure if this is something that might blow up into a legal thing. I just know that Alex alluded to a lot of politics and sorts that only the people/players in the philippines would know about.

I just didn't like the BSCP's "reason" for not letting him play in the Shanghai leg. ESPN Star Sports put out a press realeses that they and/or Guinness had no complaints whatsoever about Alex's conduct in the Singapore leg. In fact, they praised him for the entertainment. So the only question I have is who or what thought that Alex's actions were "un-becoming" or "disrespectful"? Also, "sharking"..........you're kidding right? They have referees to control such actions........and yes, watching the video I saw no signs of "sharking"........that is a low blow by the BSCP........that makes it personal, so it is very possible that this is more about politics if anything. The BSCP just blasted one of their own by saying this stuff...it's truly sad.

I am always in support of anything Alex does....I don't have all the facts but just from talking to Alex about it....it does seem very twisted. I'm sure in time this will blow over, but I do know this - Puyat is in full support of Alex and is looking into fighting the BSCP and their so-called policy/decisions on Alex's participation in events.

I just wish that instead of making more drama for players they would just let them play. It's just funny how the Billiard & Snooker Congress is the one dogging one of the best young players to come out of their country....don't you think?

I respect your decision to not comment publicly about the current state of affairs.

Yes, the BSCP is dead wrong, IMHO. Their reasoning for not having Alex compete is nothing more than fluff.

In the history of pocket billiards, at least here in the States, politics has been the biggest killer of the sport. It has kept many a good player down in the duldrums. Believe me, Phoebe, when I say that we experience similar political stop signs and hurdles in America. It is very sad when the very organization that is supposed to be elevating pool as a sport is the one who is putting it in the grave.

My best to you an Alex. BTW, Alex always has a home here in the United States if he wants to obtain a triple residency! :D

Alex is one of the most beloved players in the entire world. Everybody knows this, except, of course, the BSCP! They shot themselves in the foot with this latest action against Alex. If anything, they should want to have Philippines represented by its strongest players. It doesn't make one bit of sense to this pool enthusiast.

My best to you and yours! :)

Since time immemorial, they've been at odds on a lot of things. They (Puyat
and his stable and the BSCP) don't see eye to eye and this Alex incident
might just ignite something that's been dormant for years now. Don't worry
Phoebe, Alex is in good comany who can make their own tournaments with or
without the BSCP's blessings.

Here you go again, trying to steal Alex again. You just don't quit do ya? lol ! :D :D :D

speaking of which, If Alex still wishes to play in the Asian Tour, I believe the countries that are involved in the tour would welcome Alex to represent them. We might see Korea or Singapore win it's first title. :D :D :D
