In my non-pool life, I am the proud parent of three terrific girls. The oldest is 23 and raising a child by herself (with a lot of help from family, of course!) and doing the best she can with what she has. My grand-daughter is the light of my life and turning into a fantastic human being.
My middle child, now 20, is everything I was at her age and everything I wish I had been. My youngest child is 18 and bi-sexual. I find her independence of what some might consider "normalcy" a strength that is admirable. I regret that I have never been financially stable enough to help them continue their education, but they are all smart, open-minded, conscientious and non-judgemental so I feel they have good foundations to be productive members of society. Raising all of them was pretty much on me. After divorcing their father and his re-marriage, he all but abandoned them. And their step-father, although a good man, struggled with the responsibility of raising another man's children. He did the best he could, and I must admit that I didn't make it any easier for him at times. It's been a LONG and HARD struggle, but I believe that at this point in our lives that we all made it through successfully.
In pool, I am proud to have won 8 state championship titles and to hold the record at the local Elk's Lodge of running 6 pockets in one inning of golf on a 5x10 snooker table. It's been at least 4 years now, and no one has broken it yet.
Good question, Lenny, and the responses have been fun and heartwarming to read.
