Test / Report ur table speed !

you are... :)

if the table sucks, it is not as much fun but what are you going to do... ?

If the table sucks due to poor cushion rubber - then I'd consider getting some new high quality cushion rubbers.

If the table sucks due to rail design & material composition & mounting hardware - then I'd probably resign myself to living with it & focussing on the positives.

I dont have any local pool halls with full size american pool tables unfortunately - if I did I would have some great reference material to compare my table against ! :-)

Cheers.

edit: I dont think my table sux - its awesome compared to the table I upgraded from - just interested to know how the top of the line tables perform in comparison to mine in regard to rail speed.

The most I've ever heard of was 10 rails. This was in the NE rooms that all had 760 at the time.

9 is tough to get, I can't even visualize 11 rails.

We were trying this one night, and I got the CB hopping a bit on one attempt. I don't know how it happened, but the cue ball hit me square in the nuts I think off the 3rd rail! No lie.

Haven't tried it since. Lol

Edit* We started with the CB frozen to the first rail. That's how the guy who got 10 said to so it.

Always used low running English and never(almost) had a ball come off the table - 11rails

Sure but when you go 11 rails you're not hitting the first rail in a perpendicular fashion (as in straight on), you are hitting it at a very shallow angle. In fact, in a 11 rail bank you are not hitting any rail straight on, THAT is why it is able to stay on the table.

I have a "regulation" size table, will my test results still be valid?:D

The size of the table has nothing to do with the flow of the cue ball going aournd it 9 rails, that's all in the design of the rails and cushions, along with the cloth.

11 rails *banking around the table* you must mean ?

Originally I thought u meant 11 table lengths straight up & down - heh.

Video in any case would be good too see ? how bout it Jason ?

Cheers.

9' brunswick anniversary 760 Simonis

How many table lengths do you get when hitting from centre of baulk line perpendicular into the foot rail @ 18 MPH ?

yeah I know - the hard part is hitting at close to 18 MPH - (unless you have a radar gun to verify ! ;-D )

Thats why I hit my test at my max break speed - cause I break at only around a measley 18 MPH or so - heh, (rough checks via break speed app)

Cheers.

Would love to but room has been closed 20yrs.
Currently have a 10' Arcade with 760 Simonis but cloth is not very tight and I can only get 8 rails, plus I have windows all along table and I'm a little worried about killing somebody outside LOL. Guessing I might be able to get 9 if I really hit it

Damn - Is this new ?
I never noticed it before in the bca specs 'recreation' link ?

Whats with the object ball numbers & the cue ball numbers on diagram 34 ? (I dont understand ?)

mamics <------- fire extinguisher ready in case of "flames' ! :-]

hmm - my rails seem to be playing... ?? umm... long ??
1 hit 1st cushion at diamond 3 - CB hits 3rd cushion at almost diamond 3 ?
1 hit 1st cushion at diamond 2 - CB hits 3rd cushion at almost diamond 4 (side pocket) ?
1 hit 1st cushion at diamond 1 - CB hits 3rd cushion at almost diamond 5 ?

Using running english helps to get much closer to the right places - is this test supposed to be done with running english ?

My cloth is new & has only had about 20 or 30 hours play on it - maybe that is a factor in banking long ?

Thanx
Cheers.

I was being slighty sarcastic about the regulation thing, people sell tables as regulation size yet they have no idea how big the table is:confused:
I have a 9' Gold Crown II with Simonis 860, Artemis cushions, and rails recalibrated to take the Artemis cushions all about 4 moths old now. Straight up and down I get about 4 1/2 table lengths hitting easy enough not to hop the ball, going around the table I get about 9 rails at about the same speed.
I checked my table again last nite, still 4 1/2 lengths straight up and down but now only 8 rails going around the table, it could be that the cloth is not as slippery or its pretty humid in my basement right now, even with dehumidifier running full time.
