Jesus it was hot and miserable all weekend. I felt sorry for all the players that had to play in those miserable conditions. If I did not have people in the calcutta and a friend in the tournament me and my pack would of left.

How can this be right with 20,000 total.
128 x 125 = 16,000 + 4,000 added = 20,000

Shown payouts add up to 12,310
Texas size green fees ? 7,690
Am I missing something ?
Someone enlighten me.

forgot the free entries, but still only a hand full.

The green fees were $25 per player. All late fees went to additional green fees. I would assume that out of the 16,800 in the pot, that the 17-32 payouts were not shown as part of the original post.

Way too hot to play pool in. It didn't help that they opened the doors in there. It just made your cue way too sticky. I saw more gloves and powder being used than ever. Good tournament and great staff. Just way too hot. Won't be back unless they invest in AC.

I can help!!

The $4,000 added also included the ladies, so add 28 more. So, 155 players and yes green fees of $25 per entry were taken out of that.

Here are the complete payouts for the men:

1st 3220
2nd 1850
3rd 1230
4th 930
5th/6th 710
7th 520
9th 380
13th 280
17th 210
25th 180

This needs clarification.

I'm still trying to figure it all out. Just talking about the Open payouts.

With a full field of 128, the top 32 finished in the money for a total payout of $14,650.

Returning Champions: Al Mason, Chen, Gabe Owen, James Davis Sr., Jeremy Jones and Sylver Ochoa. Did I miss anyone? With them being exempt, that's $750 that didn't get added to the pot. Effectively 122 paid entries.

Assuming that 61 paid $125 before the 8/18 deadline, that comes to $8,125. The remaining 61 would have paid $150/ea for a total of $9,150. Player entry total of $17,275. With a min/max of $15,250 - $18,300, let's take the Avg. and call it $16,775.

Green fees were $25 per entry x122, that comes to $3,050.

With $16,775 taken in and $14,650 paid out, that leaves roughly $2,125. Could this be the green fees? Where's the other $925?

Assuming 200 people paid $16 for a full pass, that's $3,200. Where did that go?

Hanshew donated a cue. How much did it take in on the raffle? Maybe $1,000. Where did that go?

Where did the $4,000 added go? Was this split between the open and ladies? If so, what ratio?

I'm not sure how the Texas Open monies were disseminated, but I do know this.

Most regional tours I have been to have sponsorship monies and product. There is one tour in my area that takes out one-third of all tournament monies to sustain the tour as a whole. The TDs don't work for free and devote their weekends to many events to keep the tour running.

For individual events like the Texas Open, I am sure they incur expenses too. They have to pay a TD, and the host room has to make some monies due to the loss of income for table use.

The Glass City Open which used to happen in Toledo, OH each year shut its doors for good a few years ago. It was too tough to make a profit, and each year they either barely broke even or were stuck monies. Even then, the pool public complained ad nauseum for having to pay what they deemed as "high" gate fees to be a spectator at the pro event. Now there is no Glass City Open.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I never fault the tournament directors, host pool rooms, tournament promoters, or tour directors for holding back monies for their services. It is a service, and as such, they should be paid. Without these dedicated pool folk, we have no pool tournaments to compete in and/or watch. :sorry:

With a full field of 128, the top 32 finished in the money for a total payout of $14,650.

Using the figures in post no 11 the total comes to $15,450 not $14,650.

Returning Champions: Al Mason, Chen, Gabe Owen, James Davis Sr., Jeremy Jones and Sylver Ochoa. Did I miss anyone? With them being exempt, that's $750 that didn't get added to the pot. Effectively 122 paid entries.

No it doesn't, that comes to $7,625 not $8,125.

The remaining 61 would have paid $150/ea for a total of $9,150. Player entry total of $17,275. With a min/max of $15,250 - $18,300, let's take the Avg. and call it $16,775

As it happens correction of the earlier mistakes above actually results in making the estimated player entry total $16,775 (7625 + 9150) which you used correct anyway cos there's no need for any further averaging as you've already 'averaged' by taking 61 at each of $125 and $150.

Green fees were $25 per entry x122, that comes to $3,050.

With $16,775 taken in and $14,650 paid out, that leaves roughly $2,125. Could this be the green fees? Where's the other $925?

With the new figures of $16,775 in and $15,450 out it leaves roughly $1,325 unaccounted for not $2,125.

Above is posted only for correcting the maths as presented by you in your post, though it oviously significantly changes the 'missing' amount you are looking for (reducing it by $800). No other comments about what money went where as know nothing about it and therefore have no opinion on the fairness or otherwise, hope this helps.

Also, I read that $25 from all late ($150) entry fees were added to green fees.

As I said in post 11, YES the ladies and the men split the 4,000 added.

I add up the monies for the men's payouts to $15,450.

Also, the late fees were NOT included in the payouts, as already been stated. And each entry had green fees taken out of $25 I believe.

That's right, 61 x 125 = 7,625. Silly me for not using a calculator on that one. Thanks for the correction. Somehow I still arrived at the "correct" amount for the payout, which is $14,650. The spreadsheet doesn't lie.

Are you reading the posts above?

25-32 paid 180 not 80. The 125 included 25 green fee which isn't included in the payouts. The women and men split the 4000 added.

I get $15,450 as the complete payout (I had a typo before).

I believe he is just copying and pasting the information from the main AZB post that has all the payouts listed and putting that in a spreadsheet to calculate the total. I was wondering myself the big difference in payout between 17th and 25th place, now it makes sense that its $180 and not $80.
