Thank You APA

Last session, my team was in a league division playoff, we won the match over the other team. I was called
3 days later and told that our team forfeited the winning match because our payment envelope was $4 short !!! No appeal, I was not allowed to go and give them the $4 immediately! Our team was out of the playoffs...period !
What compassion is THAT ! mistake made ?

and THAT would be one of the L.O.s that need to be replaced with the "100 more just like him ! " :frown:

I'm not a big fan of the APA. I do know Marc. I used to play APA in Raleigh. I can't deny that he's a very savvy business man. Being "compassionate" toward one player gains the good will of many. People often fail to recognize that compassion and at least the appearance of caring for a customer are, in fact, smart business decisions. It happens to work out nice for that player, which is great, but let's not overstate the altruistic aspects of the act. Hope he recovers. Chemo can be a b--ch and a half.

PoolHallStuff...Well, since you bumped an 18-month old thread, that was about something nice that somebody in the APA did...and since you obviously have nothing nice to say about the APA or the LO...it's probably a moot point to even bring it up.

Great to hear they were able to resolve this with compassion. My LO's husband died last month from cancer. I can certainly feel for your team. We'll pray for your friend.

Sorry. Wasn't trying to pick on anyone. In fact what I meant to imply was that I wished more business people understood the value of customer service as a growth tool. My personal issues with Marc aside, it was good that this was done and it does set a good example that I'd hope to see more business owners in all fields, not just pool, follow. Also, I found this thread in a search and forgot to check the date. Didn't realize it was that old. Sorry about that as well.

I've been trying to contact the Raleigh APA office for the last two weeks about joining, but no one answers or returns my calls and emails. Not sure what the deal is, but it's really making me turn sour about how things are run here...

Not making excuses, but there coukd be a valid reason for this. (And of course, there might not be one.). They could have gone on vacation. They might have changed phone numbers. Who knows...?

Maybe you can see if one of the places in that area that hosts APA might be in contact with them, or know a player that has been.

Again, just throwing possibilities out there. Not getting a return call or email would tick me off, too.
