CJ..You make a few good points..But most of your rhetoric, is simply geared too much to your interpretation of the subleties (ie; finer points) of the game !.
Thanks, bud, my coaching has been with "inexperienced players," if you can honestly say that..... "inexperienced" meaning we haven't played for over 60 years'The Game is the Teacher'

Can't believe I'm about to stick up for CJ...
He wasn't just running 15 balls with BIH. He was running them in rotation. Now whether you think it's easy or hard, it's most definitely more difficult than just running them out in any order.
I can't play worth a lick, and even I can run 15 balls in any order (with a good spread) 90+% of the time
Many of the better players in the game today are broke. I suggest they take the time and effort to explain why they are successful. I'm all ears. If I like what I hear maybe I'll pay them $80 for 5 hours of instructional DVD's. Maybe other posters will too. Then they won't be broke anymore.CJ..You make a few good points..But most of your rhetoric, is simply geared too much to your interpretation of the subleties (ie; finer points) of the game !..Your main group of fan's are, (for the most part) fairly new to the game, and thats fine !..You have amassed a very good record in your career, and I cannot fault you for taking advantage of that.
However, those of us who know where you are coming from, 'real-eyes' you are just trying to convince newer, inexperienced players, that TOI is God's gift to pool !..I'm sorry, but ANY GOOD player, worth his salt, KNOWS that "TOI", and the "3 part pocket system", while they may be used occasionaly, are totally unnecessary to becoming a world class player !..For proof, all you need to do is realize how many world class player's, do NOT subscribe to your findings !...TOI is actually used very little, in "real game" situations, and is totally unnecessary, unless called for to get position !
It don't make you a bad guy,...It just makes you another EX-pro, trying to capitalize on his SECRET method of becoming a top notch pool player..Most of the better player's, do not care to spend the time and effort, trying to explain why they are successful !..If they did, very few would espouse to your 'TOI' theory...That includes your hero Earl, who rarely uses the same english twice, in one game ! :sorry:
PS..I wish you all the best with your ideas on how to bring pool to the entertainment forefront.......But puhleeeeze, you don't need 'TOI' to do that !
SJD
PS..I once played a pretty fair game of pool myself, and I may have used 'TOI' once an hour !..Most good players tend to avoid 'inside english' unless absolutely necessary...'Common sense is the teacher' !![]()
I agree.....I think I'll just keep riding along with this TOI. It works great for me and I've been robbing most everybody. I even bought another of those goofy dragon covered pool sticks from Walmart to shoot with. (No need for the Predator...it arouses too much attention)
By the way, it took me all of 15 minutes to 'adjust' to using the crummy cue.
But the gravy train is soon coming to an end..."they" are starting to back off from all those big spots they used to hand out to the "silly old man in the veterans hat". The pond is going dry...

.GoldenFlash,
If you think running 15 balls in 6 pockets with BIH after the break is some type of accomplishment, well, you should just stay in your chair, talk to the railbirds and the poolroom detectives. You clearly know nothing at all about pool and know even less about how SJD played.

Your reading and visual comprehension skills need a tune up.
In the video, Wiley was not running 15 balls at random.
He was running them in numerical order after a cb in hand from the break....it is called "beating the ghost".
And you have done this how many times? hundreds??
Didn't you think to have these feats videoed?
Oh yes, I know, I will speak for myself about not getting things videoed for history...I didn't see any need to do one at the news conference when I was drafted by the Dodgers to take Reese's place at short. They were giving up on some unknown replacement guy named Maury Wills over at Montreal and Rickey wanted me instead. But, I just couldn't bear the thought of leaving all my old pool room buddies so I turned the Dodgers down. :boring2:
And who is SJD?

And you have done this how many times? hundreds??Enough to know how hard it is.

And who is SJD?Apparently he's nobody in the line of players that you are aware of. Figures.
Many of us hear ya loud and clear. It's just... well....maybe aiming has nothing to do with it. There are a whole lotta variables that lead to success or lack thereof in the task of shot - making. T.O.I. sure helps, though. The only thing I am bitter about concerning my semi-serious action days was being ignorant about a genuine REPEATABLE method of aiming shots. Over and over and over.....without that damnable estimating. Seldom was anything revealed back in that stone age.
My stroke was a picture of smooth grace, straight as it could be, my stance was balanced, my muscles rippled, and my eyes were fantastic......yet, I could miss the same shots over and over. No matter how hard I worked. I always said I played just as bad for fun as I did for a c-note. I played (more like watched) Mosconi in an exhibition at a Brunswick bowling alley once and he even said...."I don't understand how you're missing those balls...you look great and then shoot like a dummy"
I think of all the money that Danny Jones took from me and then it's grrrrrrrrrr! If I had this procedure then, I could've made him back up and idle a little....at least slowed him down some.
TOI = the stone cold brazillians.

Your hero says he could learn to play one pocket in three weeks. Maybe people could then come from Europe to take lessons from him instead of SJD.
You don't have a clue, not that there's anything wrong with that.
P.S. How many times do you think your hero DIDN'T run all 15 balls in rotation before he finally did it once and posted it to YouTube?
ONB
"SJD" used to live in Ft. Worth Texas (where I live) and was a "pretty good short stop" is how the players here describe him. He was probably in the top 5 in the DFW area behind players like Erman Bullard, Coy Lee, Fat Ralph, Bob Vanover, and Dick Lane.<--Hard to tell which 'players' you are getting your info from..When I was in Texas, I was 'behind' no one, including Puckett or Jersey Red..Most of the names you mention, were not even around at that time..Your 'time reference' needs as much work as your flawed teaching methods !
He was a decent one-pocket player, however, he wouldn't gamble unless they let him climb on the table......I'm not sure what that was all about, it's just what people talk about <--More bad info ?..I'm average hgt., and I could care less about getting on the table ! ....he seems bitter about his playing days, although I think he's really a passive, tolerant man when he's not "on the sauce"......I've been told he's one of my biggest fans, even though he has trouble showing it (at times).<--Sorry, In the 'hero department' you are right behind Kanye West, and JayZ..(did I tell you I hate rapper's :sorry
Note to self:
Send SJD a signed TOI DVD asap <--Please do, my dog loves to play with frisbee's..
That's right, you don't need a fancy, expensive cue to use TOI, just a good tip will suffice.....and once you get the feel of TOI adjusting to new equipment is a breeze!
And if they start to get tired of losing to the "silly old man in the veterans hat" just tell them "sometimes the hunter becomes the hunted!" and such is life 'The Toi Game is the Teacher'
Now we see that it isn't how many times a person SUCCEEDED at an endeavor that matters but how many times he FAILED is what counts thereby overriding the accomplishments.Your hero says he could learn to play one pocket in three weeks. Following that convoluted line of logic(?).....Ruth, Cobb, Williams, Aaron and all the rest in Cooperstown were failures because they struck out more times than they got a hit.
It's a shame that your life has been such a failure that in your end days you've become such a bitter, unhappy, old man.
Your posts literally seethe with anger and resentment concerning new ideas
What will be good for the game is when eventually all the old grouches pass on to their individual hereafters. Maybe through sheer attrition, the game will finally reach a level of beauty it so richly deserves.
I still do not know who you are and am not interested in your identity. This final paragraph, by the way, has NOTHING to do with you personally...(before you start to howl)
I've read enough (and seen enough) from some of the old time lock artists to turn my stomach....guys bragging about waving guns, cheating at cards, jarring opponents, air barrels, slyly putting red balls back up on the table in snooker when the other guy is marking up his score, threatening to beat up people, liquor and drugs and trashy whores, etc etc....no wonder most people do not want their kids to pursue this madness or be around the participants.
The "new breed" isn't listening to you, bud, your kind of days are over.

Good post. (all this stuff with that guy started when I gave a testimony about how the TOI thing has been successful for me and others. Then he started with the jawboning and he got back what he dished out. Pool players, generally speaking, cannot handle that...their idea of discussion is "you shut up while I have my way")Old Nine Baller is right, you really have no clue if you think that stuff isn't still going on today by all ages of players and by todays so-called "champions".

If the situation is as you say, then the only thing for someone with a sound mind to do is get out of this idiotic racket right now and never look back.
Sounds like the inside of the game hasn't changed much at all.
The last thing I'd want is for anyone I cared about to end up like these old road agents with nothing left but stories of how many people they trapped and robbed.
What a horrible way to die.
Thanks for your comment.
