I just wanted to pubically thank you for your effort on the stats. And thank you for the dry break stat being added. Its amazing how much better SVB has his break working than Mika, that stat will awalys be important for top players who figure to runout when they have a shot. Its not a improtant stat when there are 3 misses/game.

These stats on these matches are very important to pool, look at base ball they talk about stats constantly and old numbers to compair to the new numbers, who's doing what. This right here the stats gives people watching something more to talk about and that makes pool more watchable. Snooker works good because they way the scroing system during the game works and snooker is huge(i know its having trouble but thats not relivant here).

What the stats do is make a better product for the audience, and the better the product the more interest. I'd love to see the stats of alex vs Snane, to compair them to this match-I'm not asking you to go back and get them, thats not my point. My point is it would be intersting to see how SBV played then vs now with real numbers attached to his play, not just subjective opinions.

Accustats has done this for years. Pat Flemming is in the HAll of fame and deserves to be there, and is a friend of mine. I mention him because he has kept stats on overall play with a number .950 is great play .743 isnt gonna get the job done. His system is great for short races in tournments and I dont think he should change a thing.

But for long races to 100 that TAR has made successful, CaliRed's stats are a better format than what Mr. Flemming uses in his short races.

Mr.CaliRed's stats lend themselfs to long sets. So I applaude both Pat and Red. They have 2 great systems for 2 different formats of pool.

Here is my point(finally), the work CaliRed has put into keeping track of the stats,TAR's work and a whole bunch of other people have created a brand new high quality product that will perserve great matches for the future, Like Pat has as well. Things are just getting better and better for pool because of people working at making it better like CailRed, JCIN, Chad, Pat, Cardone, Jay etc.

Since this post is for CailRed and about him, thanks sir for adding one more "Big thing" to pool to make it better for everyone and for along time to come, fans love numbers. With streaming, Stats, and people willing to work hard pool aint going nowhere but up and getting better.thanks again.

Pm

I couldn't find out how to PM you, Eric. I'd like to come out and spend a few days with you in the near future, if you'd have me and do you still want to play in my Bank Pool ring game, $2,000 entry fee this time?

Fatboy,

thanks for your compliments! Knowing that people appreciate and use what you are doing, is pleasing to say the least.

It would have been a lot tougher to pull off adding a new field in my spreadsheet, but because I just substituted a existing one, it was much easier. After you had brought that up, I realized how important that was in this match.

A little history on why I did this in the 1st place. When Shane played Scott on the bar table, Justin had mentioned he was taking a few volunteers to do some kind of stats for it. I quickly raised my hand, because
A. I am fluent with spreadsheets and thought I could whip one up that would look pretty good. I sat down and thought about what I could realistically do while watching it live and what was some of the most important things someone might want to see. I knew they had some kind of formula that was used with Accustats to come up with a overall number, but I knew I couldn't do that. So I settled with the things you see.

B. Justin had mentioned that he would give us some credit to his store for a payment of helping, and since I don't have a dime to my name, I said that would work for me. I love watching DVD's of pool. Well when it came time to tell him what I wanted, I had happen to mention that all I wanted was DVD's, since I didn't have a pool cue anymore. (had been on a hiatus from pool for about 17 years). Well he blew me away, when one day at work, a box showed up for me from OB Cues. He had sent me a pool cue! A brand new OB Cue. I was beside myself, from the generous gift he had sent me, completely out of the blue. I cannot thank him enough for that.:)

C. And lastly, and the main reason was... I did want to help out and I wanted to help someone who's vision I believed in. Pool and action, is my biggest love when it comes to pool. I saw a man, that despite losing money on so many events, kept putting them on. I saw a man that loved what he was doing and wouldn't let not making money right away, stop him. The product he was bringing to us, was new and extremely enjoyable to me, so I wanted to help in any way possible. I knew it would be entirely grunt work, I knew it would involve sitting in a chair glued to the screen for very long hours and I knew I wouldn't get to really enjoy the match, because all of my time would be spent on the keyboard. But it was something I knew I could do and I wanted to do something to help stir up some more interest in his production. If I could maybe raise the interest in it by even 2 or 3 buys, then I had helped him in some small way.

I do NOT want to see him stop doing this. I hope he can find some way to reach more people. I think the next event, we should all print out posters of his event and take them to all the bars or pool halls we go to and explain to the people that work behind the bars or pool halls about what it is, how much fun it is and ask them to push it. If all of us brought the product to the millions of people that are not hard core fans, we get probably get a small percent of them to watch. Once they did, they would probably get some of their friends to watch and so on. It takes no time at all to print out a flyer and post some of them around your place you play.

In closing, I believe very strongly in what he is trying to bring to us, and I have great respect for the money he has put into equipment and the dedication he has shown, by continuing to bring it to us. It must be very frustrating to go to all that work to do this big events and not have many pay to see what you have invested all your money and time in.

Thanks again for the praise, but I'm doing this for TAR in hopes that I can help him. I love the game, I respect the game, and I will help out as much as I can for something I believe in..... and I believe in TAR.

Thank you for your hard work.I enjoyed trying to see trends in the quality of play from what you compiled.

Absolutely! CaliRed's stats and rack-by-rack summaries are great. I might not have been able to watch it, but I still feel like I know what went on. :) :) Excellent work! (also, put your stats link in your signature so we can easily find your site)

Now... when is the DVD coming out?? JCIN - put me down for one!

Thanks Eric for saying what I was feeling.

Eric I never looked at it that deep before you have help shine an even brighter light on what CaliRed was doing. I thanked him in another thread for all the hard work he put into bringing us these stats and looking at his work from you prospective will make me go back over what CaliRed has done. I am sure that I am not the only one that will be influenced by your writting this and I am sure this will bring pool up to a higher level in the publics eyes. Stats like this will give any gambler a better look at what he is laying his money down on just like stats in horse racing, baseball or football.

Thanks again and see you at DCC.

awesome timing

It's great that CaliRed chose now to add those dry break stats - just as another poster is trying to convince us all that the smash-break (his term) should be eliminated from the game !
It's going to be handy in the future to look and see exactly how much any given game was affected by the break
