Thanks to JoeyA

Though I seldom visit AZB any more, and even more rarely start a thread, I felt obligated to express my thanks to JoeyA.

I spent the past week in New Orleans on business. I was able to spend several afternoons and evenings with JoeyA. I can't tell you how impressed I was with the city and with the pool scene. Joey commands tremendous respect within the pool community in Louisiana; and rightly so. He is a good sportsman, excellent player, superior commentator - and an example of what this sport could be if approached properly.

We had MANY fine meals. For those who truly enjoy fine dining, you owe it to yourself to visit New Orleans. Most people do not realize how dedicated New Orleans is to fine cuisine, great taste, and great service. I go there every year or two JUST for the food. Every place I go there has at least one dish that is better than ANYTHING I have ever had in Indianapolis or Chicago. Truly spectacular.

Joey was kind enough to chauffeur me around to his special places. Drago's, Giorlando's, Mandina's, Mother's. Not to mention Antoine's, Galatoire's, Lukes, Chef Paul's, and the Bourbon House. The food is truly unbelievable if you know where to go. Joey knows where to go!!!!!!

We had some great pool, great discussions; and Joey was kind enough to include me in the activities. I am very grateful, and will be heading back next year for sure. For those of you who question the value of AZB, it is the place where you meet and become friends with the truly excellent people in the sport - people like JoeyA.

Cool post Willie, nice of you to do a shout out. Some people we only read about here, you just have a good feel that they'd be brethren. I've met more than a few, just not that scoundrel Joey. He musta been on his best behavior or you were buying ;)

Joey's always a pleasure to talk with on these forums. He doesn't post as much anymore as do I, but he's worth a listen or two when he does.

Best,
Mike

I understand JoeyA is the finest chauffeur there is, I happen to know a guy that had the pleasure of joeyA and his fine driving ability long-long ago.
Every now and then I'll hear a really good story from the road, told in such detail that I feel like I was there 30 years ago.

Perhaps joeyA and his good ol' buddy should get together for old time sake.

--on another note-did you get to go to Geo's pizza? :)
Great post.

I know this sounds crazy, but when I go to New Orleans, I always go eat Chinese food at the 5 Happiness over on Carrollton:grin-square:

CH,
Not so crazy. Joey also bought sushi one evening, and it was (of course) the best I ever had. The good restaurants in New Orleans CARE about the food, something totally lacking in Indianapolis.

Metairie. Don't know the name of the place, but the Super Bowl roll was awesome and so was the one Joey got. He will know the name.

Two of AZB's finest hooking up for some good times. I love stories like this.

Excellent, now we just need to get you to move South a bit and get out of that snow.:grin-square:

I have not met Joey, but he comes across to me as someone you would be lucky to have as your friend and someone you could count on in any situation. We don't always agree on everything, but that's life, and of course I could be wrong in some of our disagreements too...nah...no way. I might not be right all the time but I'm never wrong. Johnnyt

Next time you're in New Orleans, go to "The Joint" BBQ in the Marigny.

Joey A is a very good man, he goes out of his way to share some time with anyone who asks of it. Glad to hear your trip to NOLA was great!

I could go for some Egg Foo Young, may have to make a road trip LOL:thumbup:

We do have a really great Chinese restaurant right here in St.Pete, just a few blocks from the Flamingo, China City, it was opened in 1959, been eating there since I was a kid.:grin-square:

JoeyA is a great guy, but he is a complete 'ASS' ! (Aiming System Supporter)..I do enjoy his commentating, and am certainly glad he has curtailed his ASS infomercials..;) He is making MUCH more sense now !

PS..I wonder if he has finally realized, that 'HAMB' is really the ONLY way to become proficient at the game !..No ASS comments please !..Thank God you guy's have your own sub-forum now ! (inactive as it may be) :boring2: :boring2: :boring2:
