Onepocket.org is accepting nominations for this years Bank and Onepocket HOF voting. They have separate categories for the living and the dead.

Just about every 5th thread in AZ is about Bill Incardona, so let's not forget to support him and get him elected into this year's class of the Onepocket Hall of Fame.

(This was my post in Onepocket.org re nominations)

"The living: My #1 is that old wharf rat, Pittsburg Billy Incardona. For chrisakes, this guy is still in big action! Onepocket and "Cardone" are interchangable words. Billy has been a factor in the game since the 60s! He bets high, played great, played everybody, and is still going strong. An extremely worthy Onepocketeer.
#2 is Allen Hopkins. I hated his 1pkt style, but I also always hesitated to bet against him. However, he was the world's best Onepocketeer for a few years.
#3 Jimmy Fusco. The Philly flash. I loved his style, he didnt play quite as good as Hopkins, but he was a considerable Onepocketeer nonetheless.

The dead: Gene Skinner, The Fullerton Kid, deserving, but it'll never happen. Hubert Daddy Warbucks Cokes, deserving, and it could happen. John Cannonball Lefty Chapman, deserving, and it should happen. Rudolph Minnesota Fats Wanderone, deserving, and I hope it happens."

(I just coined a new word, Onepocketeer. I hope I havent overused it already.)

I'd certainly support Incardona for inclusion into the 1 Pkt HOF... but how do I support that? What do I do? Is there a place to vote.. doubtfull, I'd thnk the decision would be up to a qualified committee.

How about Cecil Tugwell?
Ask Nick Varner how he played? and "The Magician " learned a few tricks also..

Cardone is a great choice but hell he is still in his prime and as much as I like and respect him I believe 100% he should be in the HOF but save that for 20 or 30 years from now when he slows down a bit,

Did Warren Costanzo-Monk, ever get concidered?, I watched him play for big $$$ for years, one handed, 2 handed etc in Sacramento,

I dont want to talk out of turn or seem disrepctful to Cardone but guys still going strong should be honored when they have slowed down as an honor to their careers AFTER their careers, Even Efren should have been put in later on, i think honering the best of the best should be saved for those who are retired.

No disrespect to Fatboy, but inducting people while they are still here to enjoy it is something that should be continued as is presently being done.

If you've ever been to the OP/Banks HOF induction banquet, it's apparent that the guys that are being inducted are very honored and really appreciate the recognition. Not only the players, but their families and friends as well. For those inductees that are unable to attend the banquet, most have family members attend in their honor. Last year, most of the new inductees were not able to attend, but there were family members present for all except one (I believe).

Up until a few years ago when the OP/Banks HOF's were created, many of the honorees would never have been recognized in such a way for their contributions to the game. This is the HOF for the sport these guys loved and lived: it's equal to a baseball player being enshrined in Cooperstown, or an NFL veteran making it to the HOF in Canton. These other HOF's induct members while they are still alive, but it usually comes after a set period of time after their retirement from their sport. I don't think this type of "waiting period" could be applied to the OP/Banks HOF as pool is a game for all ages. If a person has made contributions to the game and people vote them in, they deserve to be recognized.

Need to register on Onepocket.org

You need to register on Onepocket.org. What more qualified committee should vote, other than all of us in the pool community? Did you want it to work like the BCA where the people that sell and manufacture the pool products and have spent, like no time in a pool room decide who belongs?

Ragbug 74 I agree!
Melvin "Strawberry" Brooks was inducted but died shortly before the award dinner. Thankfully he enjoyed the fact that his years dedicated to the game was being recognized by his peers. Philw

Strawberry's family was one that was in attendance in full-force last year for his induction. They brought a considerable amount of pictures, etc., for people to view, as well as a program from his funeral. Granted, he was elected while still alive and knew of the honor, it's just sad that he wasn't able to be with us that day.
