The amount of serious pool players that regularly visit this forum?

This may sound like a stupid question, but I am just curious what the % is of the serious pool players that visit this forum regularly vs the % of serious pool players that never come on here or rarely ever come on here to read and reply to threads?

I am asking, because I have a feeling that this forum community is not really that big (in comparison to how many serious pool players are out there).

The reason I think this is because when ever I would come on here to ask about what is going on (like local weekly tournaments in a certain city), I would rarely get any replies, unless I were to ask about what is going on in a really big pool player community like St. Louis or maybe Cincinnati.

Do most pool players out there just not know about this forum, or would probably not care to visit even if they did know?

I am thinking that I would probably get better and faster answers to my questions by just calling up pool halls and asking about tournaments and other stuff, but it would be so much easier if even 50% (for example) of the serious pool players in the US were regulars on this forum, but I just have a feeling that the % of serious pool players on here is pretty low (in comparison to the amount of serious players that regularly play pool, and love action and going to tournaments in the US).

I lived in Evansville IN for a year and a half, and I got the feeling that there were very few pool players that lived in the Evansville area that were regulars here on the AZ forum.

Same with Louisville KY (where I have lived for over a year now).

I have asked about what was going on here in Louisville in the past, and I received very few replies.

I just wish more of the local players (and maybe tournament directors) would come on AZ and post about what is going on in their local cities and towns, and post about future tournaments that they are planning.

I think it would be so cool if maybe the pro's and other road players would come on here and post on when and where that are going to be passing through, and that might just be the local city that you live in, so you could visit the pool room that they are coming to at the time that they are going through to try to set up a match.

I would just to know when the action is coming through town, so that I could be there to see it.

I know I need to get out more, but whenever I visit my local pool rooms, there is nothing interesting going on.

Anyways, I am just curious about your opinions are on what the % of serious pool players are out there that post on here at least a few times per week?

Thanks

I know that in my small corner of the world, a lot of players are reading the forum and AZB front page, without ever posting, dont' even think they have accounts. I know because every time there is a big story on Azb, it gets brought up in the poolroom without anyone mentioning the source, of course. They watch for the news and happenings, and that's it.

Well, in my house, 100% of the serious players there visit the forum.

How are you ever going to find out how many people don't? It's like taking a survey about how many people there are in New York that don't take surveys. Since the serious players that will answer that they don't go to this forum would have to go to the forum to see this and answer this, that would make them people that visit the forum.

I can tell you that of the players I know, that I know visit AZ, 100% of them do. The players that I don't know if they do or not, 50% of them visit, but there is only a 10% chance of that.

I know of 3 other AZers in Japan, so the percentage here would be something like 0.0001%

Here's some typical figures....Main Forum...50 members, 136 guests.
...who knows how many are players and how many are serious?

As for local tournaments, that info shows up in many threads.
I guess rooms should take more advantage of this forum...

I know a lot of AZ members in my area...and a lot confess to reading that aren't members.

I rarely know or meet anyone that knows about AZ. I've asked hundreds of people at poolrooms or bars with tables.

I can remember 2 poolrooms in Tampa, FL that no one would admit reading AZB. One guy said, "They're all still lerning how to aim, so what the hell am I going to learn from them." I still laugh at that when I think about it.;) Johnnyt

Everyone i know on azb visits here.
combined with tokyo, that is 100.0001.
dive that by 2 and you get an average of 50%.
Case closed.

I play league 3 different days.... 9Ball,8Ball and Sunday 1P @ U of Michigan.

Our 8/9 Ball league are held at a resturant/pool room that has 10 tables.
We have well over 120 members. Of those 120 players, at least 50/60 have been playing in that league for over 5 years.
Probably 15 even know what AZB is. Of those 15 people, maybe 8 have accounts here, the others will just lurk from time to time.

I think, in general, there are a lot of serious players here, that just lurk, due to the nature of some of the threads.:(
They see/read the constant bashing's, and flame threads, and say "No Thanks"

I think if you regularly visit a pool forum you are somewhat serious about your pool game. That should answer your question. I know I wouldn't take the time to make an account and post here if I wasn't.

I think there is huge difference between passion & seriousness toward the game or any other hobby.

I am passionate about pool, but I am not at all serious about it. I don't play in leagues and I have a passing interest in watching pros play pool. I found this site by posting a search on Google and lurked for a while before joining so I could learn more about the game. Most of the time I have no idea what you guys are talking about and that sends me off on another Google search, which helps me learn.

Like most people with a passion, but little knowledge, I post mostly in areas of the forum where I have some knowledge on a subject, though that is certainly up for debate.:)
