The APA 9 ball team CHAMPIONS disqualified

you hit the nail on the head eric thegreat, its that bad and you might as well not even go last week unless your in first or 2nd because all the teams already know whos gonna win and have it predetermined. paper matches go on every week here. apa is much worse than tap.

our bca just started and is 4 teams total i was told, the whole entire league. most dont even know it exists. believe it or not it hurt the league more than helped bc from what i heard trockio and devon were getting it started in theyre local area next session, i saw sam posted trockios facebook post earlier in the thread about it. it was about to grow in our area and im betting it doesnt now. theres also no handicap and from what i heard theres no form of cheating what so ever. . they had no chance winning in bca anyway why tosss them for something they did in another league that has nothing to do w bca. worry about your own problems like people playing and going and winning nationals that dont even play in a local session. ive heard thats a big problem in bca. MONSTERS that dont wanna play league play and pay it all and go and win

If you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem

We don't tolerate 'cheating' - and if you know of someone who is faking stats they will be checked out.

Unfortunately 'I've heard that is a big problem' is not enough info.

It is hard to monitor 60,000 players in 500 leagues. We can only solve problems that we know about.

Imo, if you disqualify a team in the money, each team below that team moves up one spot in the payout and the team that busted on the money bubble is now in the money. That's how it is handled in poker and it seems fair to me.

Thats how its Handled in pool but we are talking APA.

i do not agree with apa on this.....call

no i do not think this is the right call. it should go to the 2nd place team...

APA is dead wrong on their call on this mater.......

The APA should have done a better job of checking people ID's so in the case the 2nd place team should get the crown and the money asfar as the cheater ban them but if i was one of them the APA would have hell collecting any money back... because they mad the mistate by paying it out in the first place..... i do not agree with cheating but even so the APA should have verified the ID's so it there fault they lost the money, but should pay the 2nd place the difference.... weather they get the money back from the cheater or not............

Eric,

Sam says you were thrown out of TAP for adding misses to your singles scoresheet at the RIV after the match was over and your opponent left. You are saying you were just asked to add misses and didn't?

Completley Untrue ! The fat mexican cokehead's wife kept score, i signed it and she turned it in. He went up to the desk after i beat him and told them i asked him to add misses, and like i said WTF would i want to add misses to a 11 miss match. I am about 5 misses over my cap. 11 misses in a 5-0 win.

Sam came up to me about an hour after the match and said, National wants to DQ you for asking your last opponent to add misses and i stuck up for you and said i never had a problem with this kid.

OH here's the kicker. We had a player in our 4 man 6 singles bracket sign up and fly from Seattle to Vegas to play singles, when he got there they told him he didn't have enough scores to compete so they just wrote in a bye. I had 2 opponents, i won 5-4 and i lost 5-4. They proceeded to play thier match and they went cheese.

When Sam came up to me he said i know you made a deal in the round robin, there's no way you all can go cheese. it's impossible he sez. The dude is as big of a joke as his league.

Do you know how many teams i came across at Ralley In The Valley that said hey, let's just play and make the numbers work regaurdless of who wins. THat's what TAP has to offer.

BY THE WAY, i heard a certain someone from our area got caught adding misses to thier scoresheet at Ralley In The Valley. That is the same exact thing that Pat Calvaresi got kicked out of this league for, lets sit back and watch what happens to the new guilty party. NOTHING WILL HAPPEN cause it's one of his pet's.

THe team that won Rally In The Valley last year spent the better part of 5 years without playing a real match. What i mean by that is , i goto pool league to get out of the house, shoot some competitive pool, and have a good time. I show up to this club and the first thing that is usually said to me is...We will give ya the win. Last time i blatently told them no and we played the match. Not even sure why this team bagged for 6 years to win $15,000 , but it happened.

All i am saying is look at the past RIV winners. You will see that Sam's area wins about 40% of the valley forge winnings yet people come from as far as seattle and canada to play in this tourneament. Something is fishy.

Let's take it one step further. Sam owns Westmoreland and Bedford county. He use to hold a titleholder with the 2 areas combined and give out trips. He got so mad because no one from Bedford ever won a trip so he broke the 2 area's up and gave both of them 2 trips. Westmoreland county is the area that wins everything at RIV. It's also where the APA national champs are from and the current RIV champs.

Kim and Chuck, our local APA operator, does a fine job. If you ask them to see the books on thier business and show us where the money is going then they can slap a book on the table and prove where the money is. Sam pulls a piece of paper out of his wallet when you ask him. Kim and chuck hold free tourneys every month and give away $1600. Sam sets up junk tables and makes Thousands of dollars off of them a year. He charges every team $25 at each titleholder and these tables are stained, broken rails, mice in them, have to be leveled between each match etc etc.

I quit pool because of TAP. There's so much more to TAP than just playing pool...AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT !

With that said, i am moving on. There is enough critical information on here about both leagues for someone to make a good decision on wether they would like to play either league.

Good luck to the pool world, and keep the game clean. I shall return with vengence when the time is right, but you won't see me in any handicap league. You will see me at Derby City, SBX, and classy pool tournaments. My days of playing drunks in shit kickers and T-shirts are over.

Yes, I heard someone got DQ'd for adding misses. When people started asking about it on his message board, he took it down again.

about a year or so ago in one of those league bashing threads i defended leagues in general and apa in particular.

i stated somones experience in league play would be based on how well it was ran and the type of people who played in it. the last several posts in this thread reaffirms my opinion.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ANY LEAGUE AS LONG AS ALL THE PEOPLE FOLLOW ALL THE RULES.

it seems like this particular region is rife with unsavory characters, lo' and players alike.

apa dq'ed and banned particular players. penalized the lo's and more or less told them to clean up their act.

bcapl banned the players involved the particular players also.

it looks like tap has some house cleaning to do also.

oh yea... i dont buy the bullshit that these are nice guys that got caught up in the "thats the way it has always been done in our area" theory.
just because joe blow cheats dont mean you have to also.

now excuse me i gotta go pull off a regional qualifier today after i been sandbagging the last few months.

Does this surprise anyone that know him.. People pissed iver the team that won at super
billiards expo... Some of the people on that team were the someones who cheated and won Vegas 9 ball last year..

Some people ONLY play leagues, so they can play tournaments. I see nothing wrong with that. It sucks that you have to play leagues to get into the tourny's. If you didn't you would get better turn outs like at the many casino tourny's...

Just my
$.02

APA manual clearly says to check IDs. Can't blame them for another team overlooking this rule.

The point of the tourneys is to celebrate the champions of the leagues. Ergo, you kinda need to play in the league to be able to play in the tourneys.

My team and every team we played there presented their ID's as soon as they approached the table. I'm pretty sure, but can't exactly recall if the APA instructed everyone to do that, but it was definitely the norm from what I saw.

The APA should pay out the money differences to the top 6 or 8 teams - regardless of whether they can recover the money or not.

APA vrs TAP

I was checking the local standing in my area. There are 2 - APA 7's who are playing in TAP as a 3 and a 4. That's what you gotta deal with in TAP. I know them both and i am not gonna call them out.

Matter of fact, when i re-joined TAP i came back in as a 6. I joined the message board and people were challenging eachother with sets. I went and played a guy who was a 4 and he beat me 21 of 28 racks. Before we played he said, i'll play ya heads up.
Sam asked me the next day how he played because there was some concern over his cap. I told him the results and told him no way should he be any less than a 6. A month later he won nationals and RIV singles as a 4, Then he won the following year the national 5 singles title. I think he may have won a 6 singles too. His team won RIV about 3 times , both championship and elite boards. Doubled down 1 year and sent 1 team to each bracket and won them both.

Now he is playing in places like Derby City, and playing the likes of Jeannette Lee and her husband George. lol

People take thier hard earned money and give it to a league who keeps track of stats and pays out a few measley bucks. You win a trip to nationals and it costs you thousands of dollars. Take a couple hundred bucks put it in that secret pocket in your wallet and use it for the pool hall. It keeps stats by itself, you'll get to enjoy winning or losing your money and youll have more fun. Nothing like a $5 dollar 10 ball ring game.

How does a handicap 1 win in 6 innings?

A girl handicap 1 Brittany Walters won yesterday in 6 innings against a strong handicap 2. This local league is so corrupt it's ridiculous after winning her first 2 matches at LTC and winning 17-3 and 19-1 didn't get raised they raised her to a 2 after the six inning match and she won her first match as a handicap 2 19 to 1. Just giving you guys going to Vegas a heads up. Totally Ridiculous Same League as the cheaters.

Anytime I read about rampant sandbagging, the use of ringers, cheating, unsportsmanlike behavior and other sleaze in league pool - I don't have to read the title of the thread to know it's about the APA.

hrm, that's about 3 balls per inning.
We had a 1 on our team who has run 5 or 6 balls before.

It's not completely impossible that on a good day,
a 1 can average 3 balls per inning if they got their ranking on 9 footers
but are playing easy barboxes with big pockets in their regional matches.

Also not completely impossible she sandbags :P
I just notice a lot of flipping out in the APA over "impossible" things that are very possible,
like a 2 making a long thin cut or a 4 running connect-the-dots rack.
