The AZ Room @ The Derby City Classic

The Way I See This Happening.

I would imagine that when Williebetmore gets back on Tuesday, He/We would be contacting everyone who has responded to this thread (& over @ OnePocket.org) with a PM.
Williebetmore has agreed to collect the money and will take care of that end of it.
I have PM'd Mike & Steve about Banners & Badges & Mike Maloney (semperfi) has agreed to handle the key. I really like the idea Tracy had about using a return email (receipt) as a way to get access to the room and declare that you have paid. The emails will be from Williebetmore.
I think as long as SOMEONE is "On Record" having the key at all times the room is open, there will be no problems. Maybe the key sign out sheet can be kept at Mike's booth. I do think this will be a great place to "Hang Your Hat" but I was only kidding when I said it would be secure enough to leave your cue.
I spoke with Buddy yesterday and he said he would be happy to stop by from time to time.

I REALLY AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE DCC & THIS ROOM. I'M STARTING TO BELIEVE IT IS REALLY GOING TO HAPPEN AND WILL ONLY ENHANCE THE DCC EXPERIENCE FOR ALL OF US.

Thanks, Tom

I hope you took it for granted that I'm in on it also. I'm going there on the 4th and if anything needs to be done I could take care of it before you guys get there.

I like the idea over on onepocket.org about a $20 challenge table (one pocket).

Better be careful, I have a feeling the room will be packed most of the time.

I'm FINALLY going to get to meet Steve Lomako! :)

Thanks Tom, WBM, and whoever else who is trying to make this possible....this will be my first DCC and it sure sounds like I'm gonna have a good time for sure. BTW, will we be able to bring friends into that room, or will it be an exclusive AZ room?

Tom, was that list of pros final, or when can we be less speculative about that list?

Also, my email is raemondo_chay@yahoo.com for compilation purposes.

thanks,
ray

This is also my first DCC... I was already excited but now that this is going to happen.... I'm even more excited! As far as the list of pro's.... it's specualtive... there's quite a few of us that are good friends with one or more & it's hard to tell who might show up. Non-Stop excitement... can't wait! :D  :D

Everything IS NOT up to me.

Ray - As far as I'm concerned, your friend is welcome - BUT - It isn't up to me. Williebetmore and I are the ones who started this idea and have put it together - BUT - All decisions should and will be made by a majority of contributors.
As far as I know, we aren't paying anything to any of the pros that have said they will stop by - so - we can't exactly demand anything. It is just word of mouth and I honestly think many of them will WANT to stop by and shoot the bull & relax. Where else can you sit and be around a group of forum members that are really into Pool.
I really hope there are enough funds to supply the room with some refreshments & snacks. It might be a good idea for everyone to bring his or her favorite dry snack to enjoy and share. I'm going to bring a big can of whole Cashews that I buy all the time @ Sam's Club. I also always bring at least 2 cases of "The Beer That Made St. Louis Famous" and keep it iced up in my room, which will be Poolside.

Thanks, Tom

I gotcha Tom, that sure sounds fair enough to me. I guess we'll just wait and see how everything pans out.

I'll bring some chips!

thanks,
ray

Put me in for 50.00. I can get Shawn Putnam and Dee Adkins to drop by the room and maybe set up a short match.

Just make sure you all bring plenty of CHEESE!

Or would you prefer $20's, $50's or $100?

TY & GL

Ps. - Spintheball - Now I know your going to charge me pretty good playing One Pocket but I'll tell you what a fellow told me 2 weeks ago.
"I only play One Pocket with strangers for no more than $50 or $100 - Unless You'll Take A Check, Then the sky's the limit.":D

OHB...count me in. I'll be there the first weekend Fri-Sun and then Wed-Sun the last weekend. I am sure I can coax Sarah Rousey into making an appearance. Maybe she can give us all lessons on how to break the balls playing 9 ball. Mike Gulyassy is also a friend but he will probably have a booth down there and playing in the tournament so I am not sure if he would have the time. I'll give him a call next week. Gabe 'Big Country' Owen is also always gracious & I know we can get an hour of his time too.

Whats Up With The Danny Vs. Gabe Match?

I am going to be there and will probably be staying with Chris Bartram and Danny Basavish. I can get Danny to make an appearance for an appearance. But he is expensive, maybe 3 or 4 drinks for an hour worht of time. Let me know.. he owes me one!

Has there been any more talk about a $ match between Danny & Gabe. That could be great for this room if it is a race.

AZ ers at DCC "private Room"

OldHasBeen said:
We can get a private room with a 4½ X 9 in the main hall across from where they sell sticks 'n stuff. This would be a great place for AZers to meet & greet and relax while waiting to play Efren in the finals.
The cost for this room is $1,000 - SO
Anyone interested, Please respond to this post.
The cost will be devided between those who respond.
After the responses are in - we can tell you where to send the money. It will probably be either Williebetmore or Greg Diamond.

If not enough respond, we can share the room with OnePocket.org members as well.

Either way, I'm sure there will be many pros & celebs stopping by to say hello.

TY & GL

I will at DCC from Jan 6 thru Jan 10. I'll kick in half a century note or more if needed. Would like to know more about how table time will be utilized?

I myself, would like to see it have a bunch of pros on it and often. Sure I would like to get a chance to play a little, but how often do you get to witness so many different top dogs. I'd also like to see The Beard hitting them and get a chance to ask about a few points in his book, that are not exactly clear to me.

No problem OHB, I'll take your check, but we play even and I get your first two! STB:D

Well, I'm back early; that freaking snowstorm totally screwed up my plans.

Many thanks to the contributors so far, I'll make a list later today; then send e-mails to the players who have pledged, and we'll start collecting money.

My thought is that with so many people pledging, that the table time will be allotted ONLY to people who have contributed. I also think that contributors may bring friends to watch, but not to play.

Pro's should be allowed in without contributing (as "friends of AZB"). Pro's should be defined as anyone with whom OHB will not gamble:) :). If OHB doesn't have the nuts on you, then YOU'RE A PRO.

I have in mind that any excess funds should be used for a large dry erase board to list events as they are scheduled. As you will see DCC is a very hectic, and constantly changing environment. Our professional appearances may be on somewhat short notice - but it would be GREAT to have a bulletin board that people can check periodically to see what they shouldn't miss.

Other excess funds may go to food/beverages. If several people brought coolers, we could keep ice there; and I'll kick in for some plastic cups for sodas. Keeping cold beer would require a LOT MORE coolers; but is still possible.

I have in mind that I may go down just for the day the first Saturday, maybe just hanging out all day in the room to get things started (watching bank pool for me is like a pig doing arithmetic - somewhat senseless).

It seems that if the room is busy, then the table should be a challenge table for single one-pocket games, short race nine ball (3 to 5 games ????), single full rack bank pool games, very short race 9-ball bank games, or short 14.1 games (50 points max.; though thats not much of a game). We should probably leave it up to the players to decide the stakes, but there should probably be a $5 minimum.

We can put the "waiting list" on the dry erase board. When your name comes to the top, then you are next on the table (should really never be longer than an hour wait at most if you are next). If you have a match-up, then the 2 of you sign up together, and you will have a slot (after you play the guy at the table). Anyone not there when their name comes up can either be erased, or put to the bottom of the list. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT ALL OF THIS STUFF???

Sarah Rousey has offered to play an hour of challenges; so anyone not afraid to get beat by a girl; get your rear down to DCC.

P.S. - I like the idea of a challenge table. I think in many ways it will force the players (who are somewhat shy and clique-ish) to meet some new people, make some new friends, perhaps play some new games, and get started (for those who are reluctant) into the world of small stakes gambling. Please don't bring the kid's college money.

P.P.S. - when I say "challenge table", it is NOT in the traditional sense. The person at the table leaves the table after his second match, win or lose. That way every player gets 2 matches when it is his turn at the table. When the pro's are at the table, they play challengers until they are sick of it.

Something that wouldn't need a lot of coolers would be a keg. It would only take a plastic trash can & some donations....much cheaper than buying beer by the case & then all the coolers to keep it in. Just a thought. ;)

WBM, I can provide you with both mine & Tina's emails in a PM whenever you're ready. I don't want to announce either of our emails out here in the open. That's begging for spam. Besides, Tina is a pretty girl... she could end up with a ton of email stalkers. :p I'm sure you're inundated with PM's... just shoot me a PM when you're ready please. Thanks!
