Richard Neighbors just sent me pictures of my next lovely pool tool :) Thanks for sending the pictures Richard. If any of you are considering working with him I highly suggest it. It's a birdseye/cocobolo John Davis blank which will be finished off old school with a steel joint, linen wrap and ivory Hoppe ring.

Damn i must of just missed you. When i got there he had it on the lathe and it split right down the middle. Now it's kindling.

J.K. of course. Nice looking cue.

Here is part 2 :)
I'm getting excited now as this is my first full splice cue and first time ordering a cue from Richard. I have to say again that I've really enjoyed ordering a cue from him and I would most definitely do it again. I guess I got kind of lucky sending the blank to him when I did since he told me that he has been so busy lately that he turned down 9 cue orders the other week. Glad to hear he is so busy.

Thanks.
Seems like you'll be able to test the hit of this cue pretty soon. Here's another update.

All that's left is a SS joint, G10 radial pin, final turn down, linen wrap and the finish. Then this baby will be in my hands.

Thanks.

Great looking cue! Nice wood and veneer colors. What color wrap are you thinking about?

I'm also having a cue built using a John Davis blank (purchased from Jazznpool.) I'll post some pictures when it's completed.

Mike

This cue Mr Neighbors is building you, has that ''classic'' (old school) look to it. The cue looks very sharp, the veneer colors & hoppe ring really make this cue look fantastic. Congrats to you & thanks for sharing.

I am going with a black w/white spec linen wrap. I first thought of white w/green spec, or grey w/green spec but this will be my player and it the wrap will be getting dirty so I chose black.

After seeing a Davis blank like mine finished by Steve Klapp I may eventually go with that sweet stacked leather wrap he did. That wrap looked really nice, but I won't change my decision until later.

Yea I really prefer classic looks in a cue. My current player has a similar look to it, but with a few MOP dots and checked diamond inlays. With this one I wanted to go further to the simple side as my tastes are changing.

Sweet cue in the making! I'm sure you'll love it. I've been shooting with a Davis blank cue for the last few years, you'll be amazed at feel.

Enjoy,

T

your cue almost got me in trouble :D
when i ran into john at the derby,
he asked me "did you get that blank i sent last week"
i said "huh? what blank? i've never bought a blank from you."
john says, " no, a guy bought it and had me mail to you, you should have got it last week"
i know john's a jokester too, like me, so i'm thinking he's just messing with me
then i realize he wasnt messing
he thought i was pulling his leg
he realized i wasnt
he was worried it got lost in the mail or something
now were both looking at each other waiting for the punchline or one of us to breakdown and say "just kidding"
long story short is, john got me mixed up with dickie, im in cincinnati too
so, we got a pretty chuckle about that
brent & john> both getting senile

Lol thank goodness that it was just a mix up. I would've been heart broken if this blank got lost in the mail. Im already thinking of ordering another one I
