Can you all give your opinions of the best and/or most beautiful pool rooms in America?

Thanks

Bill Shick has got to have the oldest and best looking bar of any pool room in the country. It was made from the grand-daddy of mahogany trees.

I'm in Tulsa, but I'm new to the forum.

Lucky you.The two pool rooms ( Magoos and Billiard palace) in your town owned by Mr.McDonald are the best in USA.I prefer to play on table # 2 or 3 in Billiard pallace.Magoos is a great room but there is some problem with the decor - the blue color in those neon lights did not match with other colors and for this reason alone I hang around Billiard palace when I am on the road.

Slim J, when you are on the road, since you will have a lap top, keep AZ up to date on your travelings and the pool halls you liked and what you saw.
Thanks,

Chalkies on 82nd St. on the north side of Indianapolis is extremely nice. Nice tables, bar, gourmet food.

It is a little expensive so I also recommend Betmore's Basement where the pool is free, the table is nicer, and you don't have to tip the waitress (but she might ask you to take out the garbage).

> My pick here is High Pockets in Memphis, followed by JOB's in Nashville. The website for High Pockets does it no justice. When you walk in for the first time,it feels like you're walking into a church cathedral, with 40 foot ceilings. The equipment is mostly Gold Crown I's,a 3-C table,a few bar boxes, and the best cheeseburger in Memphis. Tommy D.

My dear friend Tommy,
Get real.you do not have a chair for the player to sit. For table # 4 one can manage to get a chair.yes you have chairs for the rail birds. the door for the mens restroom causes discomfort to me every time I have to go in there.By the way I like the owner he is a nice gentleman.high pockets does not have any rank in my book.sorry my friend.

I don't know which I would pick for the most beautiful pool room, but the best is definitely Society Billiards in San Diego. I'll admit the tables are iffy and they're spaced too closely. The lighting is terrible. It gets a little too noisey in there. And the players in there couldn't sink a ball in the ocean. BUT, it is located 3 blocks from the beach and the view from the patio is incredible. Yeow!!

After shooting a few sets, take your drink out to the front patio and take in the parade of smokin' hot babes. If you enjoy checking out the latest swimwear designs, be there during summer. It's a very...uplifting experience.

Besides all that, the food is pretty good. The waitresses are friendly and also happen to be easy on the old eyes.

I had an old friend meet me there a couple of months back. He has been to more pool rooms than anyone I know and he agrees with my assessment. In fact, he says Willy Mosconi would have been proud to shoot oiut of this room, though he would have been less interested in winning World Championships.

The owners name is Jim McDermott, a great guy and he can run a rack or two.

Great idea by JoeyA.

Slim, you might consider starting a blog for this trip. You should be able to cover at least 20 pool rooms in 3 month. It is free, pretty, organized, long-lasting and easy.

Also, if you can give AZB'ers a rough idea on your route people might be able to help you better. I believe many would love to come out and greet you.

(I used to bring my cues during my business trip and meet many RSB'ers in the past. I have created many great friendship from the trips)

If NYC is one of your stop please let us know. The city is not unsafe but you just have to plan ahead to save time/money. :)

Bon Voyage!

Comet Billiards in Rockaway, NJ ... nice room, they hold the NJ State 14.1 championships there. I bet they've got 40 gold crowns with TIGHT pockets, a snooker table. Jack Colavito, RIP was the house pro until he died...

No, but when you get back YOU can. Please make sure to keep a log of where you went, what it was like, who you met and what you experienced so we can live vicariously through your adventures. (Perhaps you have the technology you can post here after each stop you make?)

Have fun, play Pool, travel safely!

The Pool Room in Marietta...beautiful open, well lit room.

If you like The Pool Room in Marietta, GA., check out The Pool Room Sports Bar & Grille in Duluth, GA.

I personally think that they are best rooms in Georgia. Although, I'm a little biased:) . I'll let you be the judge.
