So there have been several threads about what pros are friendly, and who is approachable, and when is the best time to approach a pro for an autograph etc.

My question is this:

Of anyone in the industry, player, cuemaker, room owner, tournament directors, commentators, etc.

If there was one single event that brought together EVERYONE in the industry, and this event happened to be in your home town...

If an a "host a person" webpage was set up where you could welcome someone into your home for the duration of the event (lets say a 10 day event), and all you had to do was submit a name. First come first serve.

Who would you invite into your home, and why?

Some of the best known gentlemen of the game have huge character flaws and I would not have them around my family. Aside from that, I found out the hard way that knowing someone for ten years by constant talk on the internet and catching up with them a half dozen times over that ten years isn't the same as knowing them. Neither is someone being a co-worker for years.

Living single I might casually take in almost anyone for ten days, especially in my younger years. With a family, I wouldn't run even a one in a hundred risk. Now that I'm a born again bachelor if Ewa wants to leave Mitch at home . . . .

I would invite anyone that is involved with CSI in their Las Vegas Office.

Mark Griffin has chosen good people to staff his organization and I think he expects a lot from them in the way of character and professionalism that should be reflected in the whole sport.

To answer my own question... I would not hesitate to host ANY of the following:

Mike Davis
John Schmidt
Scott Lee
Mark Wilson
Charlie Bryant
Sylver Ochoa
Tom Rossman
Mike Massey
Ozzy Reynolds
Justin Collet
James Hanshew
Jim Baxter
Mike Lambros
Joe Neilsen
Tony Robles

and on the flip side of the coin, if Mike Seigal knocked on my door covered in gasonline, flames fully engrossed... I would point him in the direction of the hose and slam the door. He is the biggest A$$ in pool, period

10 days ???

I don't let family and best friends visit for 10 days :D and they don't come home at 2:00 AM (if they ever did, they'd be OUT the next day).

Seriously, considering the pressure and intensity of tournament play, it's wildly unrealistic to expect that the easy-going, fun-loving player I think I know, is going to be that way for 10 days.

Just remember all the times that the TV reporter interviewed neighbors about the serial-killer that lived nextdoor: "He seemed like such a nice guy." :D

Jay Helfet if I spelled it right would be my first choice ,, then I would tell him bring who you want

10 days is too long and you have to know in depth these people before you bring them into your home. You do not want nutcases like Earl to come into your home and order you around like his servant. Or sulky tantrum throwers like Diva Mika to spoil your 10 days.
Since you are doing this pro bono , you need someone who is willing to foot some of expenses like fine cuisine, heavy liquor, Cuban cigars, strippers, masseurs, sex toys, phone sex etc. Last thing you want is to give them idea that you will pay for everything
Read some that a forummer here once gave Warren Kiamco a ride to airport. When Warren got off, he passed $20 to the forummer and insisted when the forummer refused. Now Warren is type of guy you would want to invite
Other word of caution- do not invite your favorite idol cos at end of 10 days, you are bound be disillusioned with him

I met Jerry Forsyth at a pro event in Canada a bunch of years back. I was genuinely impressed with everything about the man. He has my vote.

I noticed that Barry Berhman is not on your list. An oversight, I'm sure. :p

I would give him a CSI business card and ask that he do the right thing ;)
