I was playing pool the other day at a pool hall. The pool balls they gave me were really nice. It made the game quite a bit easier. I usually play on a home table with very old balls. what kind of pool balls are the best. Thinking of purchasing some for my home table. Thanks.

People have their slight personal preferences but the truth is it is hard to go wrong with the top tier set from any of the major premium manufacturers, but you are usually looking at $350ish, give or take some depending on the set.

That said, among the top tier sets, the "Aramith Tourament with Duramith" set might edge out the others if a vote were taken but would be right there vying for #1 in any case. Wayfair currently has them on sale for an unbelievable price of $279.99 shipped (37% off), the best price I've personally seen.

I haven't personally played them yet, but for those wanting to keep the budget real low, it seems the consensus for best value top quality balls might be the Dynasphere Bronze with most everybody saying that as far as how they play they are right in there close with the best. Curiously they are no longer showing on the manufacturer's website so maybe they are being discontinued? Maybe they figured out they are selling them too cheap and will make a tiny change and re-release at a higher price? Just speculating, but they definitely seem to be hitting way over their weight for the price based on all the reviews. They can be had from a known quality seller below for $100 shipped.

Any of the Aramith ® Durmamith sets. Another poster already showed a wayfair deal on the tournament set. It's really a steal at that price.

Best best? Probably the Aramith duramith sets. I say probably because the Dynaspheres are super high quality as well, and I personally think they are as good as the Aramiths, but consensus says the duramiths are better.

Bang for your buck? Definitely Dynasphere. Their cheapest sets play as well as their top sets, they use identical resin, and are made to the same specs and tolerances. If you're just looking for performance, you can get an ugly set of dynasphere tungstens for way less than $100.

The D'sphere Bronze is the best deal in a set of balls. The Tungsten are uglier than the ass end of a goat imo.

Traditional colors. Best technology.

I bought my first set of dynasphere balls due to false advertising, the ad claimed they were made in Belgium. They aren't, they are made in china with "close oversight from Belgium." That requires a hell of a set of eyes and bouncing off a satellite. I bought the cheapest to try. Didn't take long to adjust to the colors and it was was a hell of a set of balls for about sixty bucks, delivered! After alternating them and the thirty dollar balls that came with a used Valley I bought, I bought a set of the bronze dynasphere balls in traditional colors. Wow, I didn't realize how much I missed the "real" colors until I got them back! Thirty or forty dollars well spent to upgrade to the bronze I believe.

Bang for the buck, maybe impossible to beat the dynospheres. They may even be best according to some testers measuring roundness. Likely to be made on newer equipment although it was bought used to launch the dynosphere brand.

My table was destroyed during hurricane Ida. I sold my multiple sets of dynasphere balls and when I need balls again I will probably buy some made in belgium. I would like to buy some made in the USA but no quality balls made here at any price apparently. I try to avoid dealing with china but it gets hard sometimes.

Politics aside, I only put a few hundred hours on the dynaspheres. They seemed to be holding up great but I can't really testify to their long term durability, good or bad.

I own 17 sets of balls:

Aramith Tournaments
Brunswick Centennials (4 sets; 3 modern, 1 vintage)
Brunswick Ivorylene Darts (vintage)
Cosmos Diamond Ultra-C TV Set
Cyclop Athena
Cyclop Hyperion
Cyclop Skittles
Dynashperes Bronze
Hyatt Bicentennials (vintage)
Hyatt Fancy-O's (vintage)
Olhausen Signatures
Predator Arcos I (prototypes)
Vigma Diamonds
Vigma Zig Zags

I would put my Dynaspheres Bronze set up against all my top dollar sets. I still can't believe this set was under $100 shipped to my door. They are also one of the most consistent sets in terms of weight and out perform the top tier offerings from Saluc (Aramith Tournaments and Brunswick Centennials) in this regard. Weight data for various sets can be found here: https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/pool-ball-weights.536976/

If I were recommending a new set to anyone, I would not hesitate in recommending the Dynaspheres Bronze regardless of the buyer's budget. I'll say it again: The best value in pool today.

Spot on Hu. I bought the entry level Dynaspheres for $45 from Koinkid. I was so impressed on how they played and how clean they stayed compared to my many other high end sets.
Since the set I bought was Goatass ugly I upgraded also to the Bronze set for $99. Now I have the best of both worlds, A practice set and a set for matches. They play exactly the same.
