Kewl, please post updates as we get closer, I think you will see a ton of support from DFW, as well as from all over......after the devastation there, a few tourists dollars won't hurt either....

Sure hope they have a better hotel rate than was listed on the site. $155 a night is pretty steep.

Moody Gardens is always pricey. Better to stay at one of the hotels outside the resort. There is plenty to choose from, just go here: http://www.galveston.com/lodging/, to check for availability and prices.

My favorite is Gaido's. It's nothing fancy (the rooms seem to have been decorated in the late 1950s), but it's clean, relatively cheap, and has some great seafood at it's on site restaurant. It's also right on the seawall.

Best of luck with this. I just hope the money is guaranteed guaranteed, and not just guaranteed...

I'll be there..... woo hoo moving to texas in AUGUST :D I sure hope they can really pay that kind of money if so this will become a pretty big tournament.

More info needed!

The website does not give any tournament info.

Just says buncha $$$ numbers and BCA Team stuff.

Is this bar boxes (coin-op)? Entry fees? Races? Format? All around $$$? Pro Points? Amateurs only? Blah, blah, blah...

I can appreciate that it's 7 months away and more info should be coming, but as an event producer myself, once you make anything public, you really must have the package ready to present.

Edit: My lazy ass did not click around. There is more info than I thought.

Here is what I know, so far:

There have been contracted 32 Diamond 9 ftrs, and 116 Diamond 7 ft tables.

The
ball room is 53,000 sq ft.

The 10 ball, one pocket, and 8 ball will be on 9 ft tables as will the womens and amatuer 9 ball. The team will obviously be on the

bar tables

I meet with them this afternoon and will have many more answers this evening.

I tallked with them today and they are dead serious, but, a bit scattered.

I know Bobby and he is a good man. There is no scam here, just some things needd to be cleared up and they are working very hard on that.

IMO, if Bobby says the money will be there, I trust that.

As I understand, all the pro events, 10 ball, one pocket and pro 8 ball will take place on 32 Diamond 9ftrs. This goes for the pro Womens event as well.

The rest will take place on the bar boxes.

There is no money added.

There will be Live Streaming.

This is about as much as I know at this point.

Now I ccan not say that if the money is not paid I wwill pay it off..However I do know all parties involved and vouch that they are serious about this...This will go on..Mark it on your calender...

IRONMAN: I was involved (TD) with this type of tournament on the SPI. The promoter had this idea of a top heavy pay-out. With no added money, all the cash has to go to 1st place while 2,3,4,5,6, gets very little.

Let's hope this is well planned, I'm planning on attending.

Who's the Tournament Director?????....SPF=randyg

It is my concern of this as well. SOme have to live and learn I suppose.
It is a shame the SPI went under. That was a lot of fun and served as my vacation each year. In fact, I think it's the last tournament I played in.

Who is the TD? Not sure, but they are supposed to let me know today.

My biggest fear is that with no money added, they aren't going to attract near the pro's they anticipate. I surely donn't wish that though.

September 11th IS the weekend right after the Texas Open so I suppose it's an okay date but the advertised payouts seem to be very misleading with no information about added money or what those payouts are based on.
