The Cue You Will Never Sell???

BOTH... Just because they where gifts to me from the makers themselves... They both will be handed down for generations!!

I will prolly not say *never*, I will most likely say "The last cue I'll ever sell." When something urgent comes up and you badly need $$$, then you need to dispose and the best/dearest cue to me will be the last 1 to go.

A McDermott M64E

I'd owned my first 3 cues bought within months of each other.. all cheap the nicest was a viper that I got at a pawn shop for like $60...

I was really on a tear to get back into pool and get better...

Then my grandmother passed away..in early 07

I got a very modest inheritance and I took that money and

I bought that cue...

I chose it because the blue Italian pearl ring in the butt matched her eyes..

and I haven't shot seriously with anything else since.

and I don't intend to..

I just picked up a cue that is so nice I told myself I would never sell. I've gone through about 30 cues before this one. It just feels right for my body and playing style.

What is your cue you will never sell?

Hmmmmm....let's see:

Tucker...not a snowball's chance in hell!!

Allers/Prather...I really do not think so, besides being a friend, he allowed me to freely experiment with the specs of the cue...not only did it turn out great, but plays great as well. It was terrific fun!

Helmstetter 86-06...yeah, uh this one isn't going anywhere either. Who knew?!

I have another currently in the works, and have a pretty good guess that that one will be a keeper as well.

Some cues just feel really comfortable or just flat out good in the hand...when they play as well as they feel...you just don't get rid of them. I do not even think that I have a small collection, but rather a small arsenal...as I play with each and every one, and each one brings something slightly different to the table. I feel very fortunate indeed.

Sorry, wasn't really much help...but it has the makings of a good thread!

There isn't a cue made that I wouldn't sell. Even if I had a 'boti I'd probably eventually get rid of it. Cues just don't mean that much to me.

I'm hear you, I just talking about a cue that felt so good with your style of play. A cue that felt the best over the others that your tried. To me it's all about being comfortable and having a cue that your trust helps.

My purple heart, steel jointed Tim Scruggs sneaky is what Id like to keep till I die. So if you see me selling it, you better believe Im hurting for cash, lol.

A Palmer model M from the 2nd catalog. Bought new in the early 70s for $125.00...with 2 shafts and a "coffin" case. I couldn't sell it...heck, it has my name under a clear plastic piece. :)

Actually, I think my Josey is actually a much better playing cue...but I do shoot with the Palmer from time to time.

My main pool cue is a cheap Meucci 97-5. It's still in good condition and I still have one of the two shafts completely unused. I've been told I could get $250-300 out of it. But I will never sell it because:

- It plays just right. It's got that mellow, flexible wood feel in the shaft that I can't find anywhere else. Actually it's probably because I am used to it after 11 year :) but still, I like how it plays.

- Most importantly, it has sentimental value to me: I won it in a pool game in 1999 and, since then, it's been with me through good times and bad times on 3 continents. It's survived prolonged exposure to -20 cold and 110 heat, and an airline lost it and I recovered it intact in the busted case 3 week after. Despite all that, it never let me down and still plays good, so I figure that cue just wants to stay with me :)

I don't see my self selling any of my custom cues, but never say never...

BUT the McDaniel Q88 was my first custom cue and it is my favorite when it comes to balance, hit and feel. This one is my keeper

Nice! I had a McDaniels cue a long time ago that was awesome. I sold it and then regretted it.

I have a few that I have sold and regretted.

My players now are a nice Varney set. Don't think I'll let them go anytime soon, they are too nice. But honestly can't say that I will never sell them.

You should ask Kevin Brewer to contribute to this thread, he has had SOOO many "lifetime players" that I have lost count!!

There are many that I will be really hesitant to let go. Only if I am absolutely badly in need of cash.

Due to sentimental reasons, the very last will be my Tulipwood Viattorre...
