Just a note for any that ship FedEx They S**K !!!!!!
Even if you require a signature FedEx Express has left many packages on my door step ranging in value from 2500.00 to 7k & never got a signature:( They also left the 7k package out in the Rain.
I have had a cue shipped to me By FedEx priority overnight with a required signature .It never came ,they will not honor their Declared value for a claim .
The driver has changed his story to his supervisor three different times.
Now on the other hand I have never had a problem with my regular ground FedEx driver. He even gives my wife extra time to get to the door .

I guess Learning to Read is Not a FedEx Express employee requirement.

I WILL NEVER SHIP FED EX!!!!
First they need to understand english before they can speak it !!!! Just try to order a coffe a Dunkin Donuts and youll see what i mean.......:)

Wow, I've had packages that I've begged to have them leave at the door and they wouldnt if the sender required a signature. They wouldnt even let my next door neighbor sign for them uless she was at my house and answered the door. Funny how its all up to the driver and not the actual FEDEX policy.

US Postal Service is the cheapest and most reliable from what I've found. Just ship it insured with tracking and signature required. I've shipped tons of expensive items through them and never had one single problem. I prefer signature required so they WON'T just leave it at your door, unless you have signed that little slip allocating where they place the package.
Hey Mat,That is a real nice cue and case in your avatar.

You and others have to know all Timi's cues are constructed using trade sectets and they are not for sale.
Timi and Mike wish the cue to be destroyed for this very reason.
It will not be or is now offered for resale. The shipping company owns the cue. It will be destroyed if I am allowed to keep it because trademark and construction secrets are involved.

I hate to break it to ya, but trademark and construction secrets are involed in every single cue they build. Any cue can be dissected and x-rayed for these "secrets."

It is a shame to see such a beautiful cue destroyed by idiots at the shipping company!

Oh yeah - that is my baby. She said thanks for noticing.

Matt <-- Yes, my cue talks.

Wow, that really sux :(

Any time I have high end goods being shipped from anywhere, I typically follow the package's progress online via tracking#. UPS and others are normally pretty good about keeping their tracking info current. I still remember how UPS dropped off my $3000 mountain bike at my fiancee' front porch without even knocking on the door. I was in the back room and did a quick check on the package status, so when I saw it was "delivered," I looked outside, and there was the package with a small hole in the side of the box where the bike's rear quick-release lever punched a hole. I'm guessing the driver knew he screwed up, so he simply did a dump-and-run.

Drive should be should be dealt with harshly

for his irresponsibility like they do in other places.

ABOVE WAS JUST A JOKE.

Sad part is the customer, or shipper will go threw hell collecting damages if it was Federal Express. Nothing bad is their fault...

I had a Schon SL6 back in college that I left in my dorm room laying on the floor during a two week break. When I got back to my room, the whole room had flooded at least a couple of inches and my Schon had evidently taken some water damage. It was stored in an "Its George" suede case. When I pulled the cue out...I almost cried! The finish started flaking off...like eggshell...totally brittle. I checked the shaft...it was discolored, but still straight. The butt was also still straight. I sent it off to Schon, had it refinished and shot with it another couple of years.

I really don't understand why you are going to butcher the cue, but hey...it's your cue...do what ya want.

Roller

nick did you hang it and let it dry? i missed if its warped or now. if you hang it above a vent in your house with the ehat on it will dry out.

i did a repair where a guy left his cue in his daughters trunk of the car and it leaked. his cue swelled up like you wouldnt believe. i dried it out and refinished it and it straight as can be to this day

ive seen makers/repairers completely SOAK shafts when cleaning them also

This is a new cue

Repairing a new cue if possable would still leave a repaired cue with issues. The loss would be probably make repairs and resale a loosing proposition. The new shafts and handle and retapperand refifish to the but and rewrap cost would be prohibitive. The cue would have $4000 in it and sell for $1200.00 to $1700 and it's construction would not be origional. So I see a resale at the lower end because there would be disclosure.
The butt is straight enough to have value maybe 1/3 it's origional value to me. Minus the $500 for the shafts I see $700.00 sitting there.
I would rather call it a wash. No pun intened.
The cue has been drying out on my pooltable under a heating vent(heat pump). My heart really isn't in destroying this cue especially because it was on Timi's web page at one time.
It's kind of like if I wrecked my anniversery Z28 Camaro would Ibuy it back from the insurance company for the LT 350? I would have to think about it.
I just roller the cue and it is sad to say the butt warps a little more every day. The shafts are definately gonners.
Nick :)

After re reading the post it appears it was Federal Express who did the dumb thing. I hope who ever is filing the insurance claim with them if it is Federal Express, is easy going. As I personally did business with Federal Express over 15 years, 3-5 packages per week with no problems. The one time I used their GROUND SERVICE it was a disaster as one of THEIR TRUCKS ran over my package. The claim procedure was a nightmare, and it was never possible to talk to the claim department. NEVER again will I ever ship anything Federal Express.

I had Bamacues order a couple of cues for me from J&J recently (seamless transaction as always Thanks Joe :) ). They were delivered 2 days after ordering by UPS Blue service, who rang the doorbell, and before my wife could get to the door..... the driver left, and left the cues on the porch in -10 degree weather. Again, it was a highly insured package.... and they didnt even require a signature or anything....
The cues were fine, but there were so many things that could have gone wrong to make it no allright (wrong address, no one home and the cues sitting there for hours.... etc etc etc)
I only use USPS. Priority for most cues, but anything expensive goes Express mail. How bad is it when you cant trust a shipping company to have common sense?
Chuck

I didn't know

If you want a signature you can ask for a signature. Ups is great they insure for less than any one. And they stand behind theiir service. From now on I will just ship signature required. Simple remidy.
On a lighter note I did something I said I would never do. I screwed a Cochran shaft onto the butt to see how it hits even though it is slightly warped it hit lights out. Freakin waiste.
Even bent it is a monster!:D

I am sorry to read about your loss, it's a sad day when things like that happen. But as an advice note, just because you request a signiture with UPS, doesn't mean crap to them. I have packages left by them all the time with sig. Reqr'd, and they see fit to leave it in my driveway on a very busy city street! UPS sucks, the only one I trust is my Mailman. USPS gets it right, and leaves it where it should be, and they get their sig. no matter what.I wish more companies used the Post Office with priority mail. Good luck with the claim, hope it goes well.
One question, as I'm alittle confused, in your earlier posts, you mention having the cue sent to you so you could remove the trademark. Is that after the damage, or before? Just curious as you seem to want to protect the integrity of the cuemaker, but then express the desire to want to remove their trademark, and it sounded like it was when they shipped it to you for this purpose, that the damage occured. Maybe that I read it wrong, no offense meant.
Dave

Hate this turned into a hassle:(

I didn't read the entire thread.

Who was the carrier?

Was the pkg insured?

THANKS in advance, Adam

Nick, Put it in a nice frame along with the claim form and hang it on your wall but don't destroy the cue.
