The Draw Published Thursday

I'm looking for a lot more confidence than that from an IPT'er. Don't under estimate your ability, or your possibilities. Given the opportunity to play, which you have, you must believe that you can destroy any opponent you face. Again, I didn't say play with them, or give them a good game, I said destroy them. Have no mercy queen, for they shall have none on you. Best of Luck to you Queen of the Rack.

Thanks Krypto. My confidence has been shaken. I am not running racks at home. But last night, playing on looser equipment, I was, so I feel marginally better. :o

Mike is playing great though!

If OLN picks up the deal, it will be delayed broadcasts. The only ones seeing it live are those in Europe and those with satellites. :(

A live broadcast in Europe of an evening event in North American might be pretty cheap airtime. ;)

Dave, who doesn't understand why the IPT would broadcast two different productions of the same event (a fully editted reality show in the US, and a live broadcast of matches in Europe)

Likely because they couldn't find anyone in the US to show the event live, and they could in Europe (though I'm still waiting to see some info on what they're broadcasting live, and exactly where, etc. :D).

I don't think it's an either/or situation. The live broadcast is only two hours per day I believe so that is probably one live match per day(probably 6 to 8 live matches out of about 1,000 total matches). I would expect that Europe would then get the editted reality show as well once it is completed.

What they might do is switch between matches like they do switch between players on the PGA tour.

Issue I see there is, golfers spend about 95% of their time walking and 5% of their time actually whacking the golf ball, which makes switching around from group to group feasable.

Pool matches tend to be pretty constant as far as something-to-watch.

I doubt that any one of those guys would want to be in that group.

No cakewalks there.

I hope you are right but if that is what they are going to do they should have staggered the start times on different tables to increase the chances of having important games(ie: one player on the hill) during the entire show.

If the N.A. 8-Ball Championship in Vegas is set up like the KOTH in Orlando, I'd imagine they will have one designated TV table, like the "Starship" room for the premier matches.

These matches, most likely, will be the ones which will be televised live and/or, as in the case of the United States, after the fact.

Does anyone know how they determine the groupings for the subsequent rounds (other than the first round)? After the first round, do they have another draw to figure out the groups for round 2? Does anyone know how this was done in the KOTH?

It looks like you are correct. The EuroSport site shows live broadcasts at 9:30 PM (didn't see what time zone) for 150 minutes. That means matches from mid-to-late afternoon in Las Vegas will be the ones covered live in Europe. One of my obtuse comments refered to the significant time difference between Europe and Las Vegas :o

They also appear to be showing a highlight package (my interpretation) earlier in the day showing the previous days action.

Overall, imo, this is a better scenario than editing some action on/off the table into a reality show.

Dave

PS They list a lot of sports on their front page, including Snooker under the "MORE" category, but no pool yet. I went to July 23rd schedule and found the coverage manually.

PPS There is a lovely picture on the front page of the IPT site today !

If you are having trouble running racks, work on your defensive game and strategy. Even in pool a good defense can often beat a good offense. If nothing else, it will keep you in the match longer and possibly frustrate your opponent.
Not only that, but if you are confident of your defensive skills, it will allow you to relax and not worry about running out. Which will probably make you shoot better.
Remember, it's round robin so you don't have to win every match. Just play within yourself, relax, and have fun. That's what it's all really about anyway, right? That's why we all play this great game.
