The Draw Published Thursday

Just got an e-mail from IPT that the draw for the player groups of the round-robin format for the North American 8-Ball Championship will be published this coming Thursday, July 13th.

Though the players MUST bring their best game to Vegas, come July 22nd at the commencement of the event, the "luck" of the draw is also significant and may be an important element as to whether a player advances to the next level or not.

With 150 IPT members who were, as some are wont to say, "hand-picked" and 50 winners of IPT qualifier tournaments around the world, this is going to be an interesting field, very diverse and international in scope as well.

Vegas or bust, here I come! :p

What a truly global sport we have now when we get these IPT e mails on the other side of the world a day before they arrive with you in the States.......and us being about GMT +4 as well:)

Good luck to all in the draw and the event, especially to the players who I know:D

Does anyone know ....

Is the draw for groups:

1) Is computer generated?
2) Is hand drawn? (random)
3) Is Hand picked? (Selection of diverse players grouped together)

Between 2 and 3, my question lies with, do they do anything to insure
some top rated players do NOT get knocked out because of a particular
group that might be stacked because of the draw?

For instance, if a random draw was done, and Efren, Django, Alex, Manalo,
and Orcullo ended up in a group, would they switch a couple with other
groups for a more even distribution of players per group?

I'll be there. I'm pretty excited about it. I actually like the production on OLN and am looking forward seeing it live.

The first person's name I will look for in the draw is to see who fell into the group with Mike "Kevin's best friend" Sigel.

I just had a funny thought ....

What is Mike Sigel going to say if he happens to get paired with a woman, and gets beat by her? That would be funny! (Nothing personal Girls, just
a long standing joke in Pool).

Maybe, our own Linda Carter could do the honors .... LOL

TV? Live or Memorex?

Will the tournament be broadcast live on OLN, or delayed broadcasts?

I am getting more and more excited each day now, just waiting for the tournament to start. Seeing more matches on TV lately, including the
WPC, has pumped me up more - Shit, I had better go hustle some while
I am so juiced ..... lol

It would be nice to extend the Queen's reign of terror into the IPT, but I think there are a lot of jousters with a purer noble bloodline! :p

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a woman in his bracket, and if there is, I wouldn't mind it if it was me. I want to play World Champions, ex or not. I'd rather get handed my crown any day to me by one of those, rather than an APA 6.

And just maybe...maybe if he played as badly as he did against Efren, I would have a chance, lol. If I wear my crown while we play, I figure that would intimidate him just as much as if he were playing Efren, right?

If OLN picks up the deal, it will be delayed broadcasts. The only ones seeing it live are those in Europe and those with satellites. :(

Digging around the IPT site, I can't find any reference to upcoming events being broadcast live. Where's this info?

I'm looking for a lot more confidence than that from an IPT'er. Don't under estimate your ability, or your possibilities. Given the opportunity to play, which you have, you must believe that you can destroy any opponent you face. Again, I didn't say play with them, or give them a good game, I said destroy them. Have no mercy queen, for they shall have none on you. Best of Luck to you Queen of the Rack.

Don't forget to take Keith with you!!! The excitement generated by the IPT for you and Keith is real evident in your posts - and it makes me want to play or at the very least watch the matches. Best of luck to you both - you are Keith's "cornerman". Would love to be in Vegas to watch the matches.

Jack, I sure do wish y'all could make the trek to Vegas. We will be traveling in a few days, and I cannot wait to get out of Dodge City, leaving my WORK behind.

Last night, we went to a local $20-entry-fee 9-ball tournament, and EVERYBODY was talking about the IPT -- Vegas, Reyes vs. Sigel finals, IPT qualifiers, et cetera. The IPT is the talk of the town in my neck of the woods. :p

One regular on the pool circuit stated that IPT members around the country are practicing non-stop. At Pete Fusco's pool room in Philly, the players have been coming in the droves. Karen Corr has been seen in the pool room on a regular basis. Thorsten Hohmann, who apparently was/is in NYC, is also honing his skills set, getting ready for the big day. It is rumored that Gabe Owen has locked himself in a room with his pool table, not taking any phone calls, dedicating himself to practice 24/7. Jimmy Fusco has been playing on a regular basis, as the IPT has rejuvenated his desire to get back to playing pool. Yep, this tournament is the real deal, and serious players around the world can't wait to get to Vegas. ;)

I am looking forward to seeing the whole gang. Seeing the players arrive in Vegas is going to be so exciting. I will definitely pick up some IPT memorabilia for you, Jack, and send it your way. I hope they have posters and programs like they did at the KOTH in Orlando. Thanks for the good wishes! :)

All this for a paultry $350,000?

LOL

The really serious part of this upcoming tournament is that there are a whole lot of players who will be competing next week and they look at the list of the players who finished in the top 6 at the KOTH and they all KNOW that they can beat , and have beaten, all of them in the past so they have just as good a chance to come out on top as any one else in the tournament.

One thing for sure. After the tournament is over one player is going to walk away with $350,000.

And the rest of them are not going to do bad either.

May they all play well.

Jake

I was doubting it'd be posted at midnight before I went poking around and still couldn't find it this morning. :D

These folks aren't going to stay up half the night just to post a list of players.

And to those of you here on the forums who are going to be participating - I hope your draws work to your advantage :D

Lol

I couldn't wait to get out of Dodge too since that is where I grew up!!!
I had to explore the vast horizon of Pool Tables in the outer spaces of my mind ... lol

I am not even around an IPT member, and I can feel the electricity, I can
just imagine what the excitement and thick air in Vegas will be like. This will truly be an historical event for Pool. Boy, the threads will be flying today after the groups are announced. Have loads of fun in Vegas, and tell Keith to 'get lucky' for me ... lol

I'd like to see these guys in one group.
