what does everyone think about the fury break cue, i was looking for a break cue, willing to spend around $150, or if people think that the sledgehammer or predetor is actually 200 dollars better ill buy that. the fury comes with the phenolic tip, is that type of type alot better than a regular hard tip. I broke with a phenolic tip and didnt notice anything special. whats everyone elses input on this

It's a GREAT break cue and you don't need to spend more. It's as good as anything out there and better than most. Just make sure you get the right weight, be it heavy or light. My preference is heavy through much experimentation.

I had a Fury break cue and bought a Predator. I thought that I would like it a lot better. The fury is as good as the predator, if not a little better. Stick with the fury.JMHO,FWIW

got an extra cue laying around? have a cuemaker make you a BREAK shaft for that cue, to your specs. mine would be 13.5 mm, 8-10" taper, med. hard tip.

that will cost you less than a break cue would, and probably get the job done just as good.

i use a sledge but ive played briefly with a fury and liked it. I dont know how it jumps but it breaks comparable to my stick. One word of advice is to shop around, I got my sledge for 175 shipped.......and Ive seen those furys for 80 and 90 bucks on ebay.

As a break cue, it took me a little bit to get use to it. Once I did, my breaks are better and I actually control the cueball better.

As a jump cue, I haven't found anything easier to jump with. I can jump with about a 2 ball space right now and I've only had it a short time.

It's hard to beat for the money. Check on Ebay. I bought mine off a guy with the handle Razorray1974 (or something like that). He's a known player and may have some more.

scott, where did you get your sledgehammer from, where could i get it from for that cheap
off ebay........the guy said it was used but like new and it really was.......it looked 100% when i got it except the tip had been chalked. Just go on ebay, only buy from reputably rated sellers and use paypal so you can get ur money back.
like i said i saw a fury on there a few weeks ago for like 80 bucks, the one with the leather-like wrap. Just shop some

If Scott got his Sledgehammer for $175, it is either used or stolen. Mike G. is pretty strict with his pricing.

Buy a Sledgehammer and buy the best. American made by an American. You can buy a steak dinner @Ponderosa but I would always spend the extra money and go to Outback. The Fury breakcue might be only worth what you pay for it. Made in Taiwan, a cheaper imitation of the Sledgehammer. It is worth the extra $100 or so, don't be cheap when it comes to something that you are going to use for years. I just put on order my new custom made Sledgehammer made from purple heart, I can't wait til it is shipped.

Check out www.babysproshop.com and see all of Mike's great cues.....especially some of the customs he has made for the pros.

I have a Sledgehammer and love it. I have not yet tried a Fury J/B cue. Have you?

Scott said the guy on Ebay was selling it used, but in as-new condition, so I'm sure he originally paid the normal retail price for it. I've seen quite a few almost-new Sledgehammers being sold both on Ebay and here at a hefty discount than the original retail price because some people who buy them and have never tried a break cue with that kind of taper and phenolic tip quickly realize they are not going to be able to adjust to it. Others take to them like a duck to water, like a friend of mine who changed from the Predator BK to the Sledgehammer overnight. (Although he's not using it for jumping, he's become too adept with his Stealth/Morris jumper to want to change.)

I've tried his Sledge but keep going back to my BK with a 12.5mm shaft. If I was in the market for a new break stick right now I'd be strongly looking at the Jerico Stinger, I've tried one briefly and it felt real nice.

I dont know Mike personally but i have seen on more than one occasion Mike giving these cues to "CERTAIN PLAYERS" for a very ,very low price and in fact ive had two brand new sledgehammers that cost me next to nothing ........Of course i have sold them to friends that had to have them ........ Does Mike even make these or are they mass produced now, it seems like there is an awful lot of them for sale if they are still "custom made"???

Are you on crack? I can't stand it when someone wraps themselves in the FLAG with NO IDEA what they are talking about.

1. Some Sledgehammers were/are made overseas - everyone knows it, you know it. Sledgehammer II's are made by McDermott, mass-produced, overseas? Who knows, some McDermotts are. But they are not "hand-made" by Mike Gulyassy.

2. Ponderosa/Outback? These are your comparisons. One is just a more glitzy version of the other. Are you saying that people should pay more for the Sledgehammer because it's wrapped in a prettier package and they can feel better about that? Are you willing to BET REAL HIGH that the Sledgehammer does not outbreak or outjump the Fury JB? We are still talking PERFORMANCE here aren't we? Or are we talking glitz? Geez, if you want to equate price with quality then try Ruth Chris's steak vs. Outback. I would be willing to bet that for the money a steak costs at Outback I could get pretty much the same cut of meat at Ponderosa for less.

Mike Gulyassy is a world class cuemaker, a world class player and a really nice guy. You are doing him more harm than good with your misinformed enthusiasm.

For the money, you can't beat it. The taper allows you to get the cue through your bridge with speed, and the tip is of the hard phenolic variety. It jumps well both at normal 58" length and at 40" jump length. And the two I bought looked pretty good with nice hardwood and leather wrap.
