I totally agree with you on that. Especially if they would have shots of the other players while they were in the chair. I'd absolutely love to see a format like that. I love watching pool, but it would be boring for most people.VIProfessor said:OMG! The shots on the three and the five ball were simply outrageous!
Has anyone considered that this format, with proper editing, may be just the ticket for pool on TV? The public never gets to really see the raw offensive skills of the top male players (particularly with ESPN's alternate break format), and ring ten-ball really showcases that aspect of the game and may provide the flash and dash that would excite a general audience. Combine that with the poker-type situations of pots and being all-in, and you may have a winner!
Andrew Manning said:So what do you think about that shot on the 5? Was he trying to make the 5 bank-carom off the 10, or was he trying to make the 10 bank-combo in the opposite corner? I think he was shooting at the 10 and lucked in the 5.
Not that it wasn't still an incredible out. They call Efren the magician, but Parica's got an awful lot of "magic" in his arsenal too, and the boldness to just go for it when the pressure's on.

Travis Bickle said:I agree Jose got lucky to get on the 2, but it was one of those shots where he HAD to get lucky. How else could you play it in an all-offense game? At least he saw the route and gave it the chance.
Watching that crazy match, as much as anything, is what has made me want to go down to the DCC. Alas, another episode of Married With Children has preempted that this year.![]()
I thought that was you, but I wasn't sure.Williebetmore said:As someone who was there (you can see me sitting behind Johnny)
I agree, he really had to come close to the corner to get off the second rail cleanly. As for the shot on the four, I would not have liked to shoot to such a small zone, especially with a big side pocket right there. He probably had the side pocket in mind and babied it just a bit too much. The shot on the two was tough in my opinion, with such distance and a funny angle. I think he knew the ten might go and also the five, but I think it was a "poke and hope" shot.Williebetmore said:P.S. - Edited to add: The best shot of the rack was getting from the 2 to the 3 for the right angle to break the cluster - he spent a great deal of time to get the angle just right on the 3 - a feat beyond most amateur players. Kudos to Jose on that shot.
Williebetmore said:The only thing this match made me want to do was play more straight pool (rotation games are about as good a way to differentiate the top players as paper/rock/scissors - a good platform for exhibition of skills though).
