anyone know what time earl is resuming today?
Earl took 2nd to Mika in a major 14.1 event about 5 years ago.His I've just watched a little bit, and his patterns are really, really weird. Too me it looks like he's never even played straight pool, almost, though I know for a fact he has (Maine event). He does display knowledge, but it's more general pool knowledge, rather than straigtht pool specific knowledge. He breaks up clusters at the right speed and does seem to plan ahead, but his plan seems different than what other players may do. It just doesn't look like a straight pool run. The pocket size may play into it, he may not take "insurance balls", proper patterns and other such concepts as seriously, because he thinks he can shoot his way out of anything the table leaves him. He can, but not to a high enough percentage to break the record(s). He of course has the stroke and the touch, that goes without saying, but he needs more that that to break even 526.
Anyway, I do wish him all the best and I wouldn't be surprised if he started improving or adapting quickly as he went along. He certainly has the talent.
You have perfectly captured the best way to explain to emerging Straight Pool players the historical distinction between the renowned great Straight Pool players and all other ones. A distinction that is unmistakable when watching truly great performers making the process look so logical and deceptively -- but so pleasurably . . . easy !!the ONE thing a 14 1 player NEVER forgets is how to run a rack of balls playing pattern after pattern, and controlling the cue ball like it was on a string. SVB shot the same kind of patterns Earl has picked, ALL OVER THE PLACE.
. . . Ruslan sticks out as a real 14.1 player because he ran racks so effortlessly as opposed to Earl or SVB.
You misunderstand me. The other fellow suggested that Johns attempts were not an event. I am saying that it can’t be an exhibition and not an exhibition at the same time. I am not questioning whether the run happenedNonsense.
It was filmed, it happened....
anyone know what time earl is resuming today?
Oh silly me this was about Earl, he kinda got sidelined in all the arguing.anyone know what time earl is resuming today?
And they started the bad mouthing first, let's NOT forget that!!!
Is there a live stream available? PPV or otherwise?

So when are the straight pool players going to start showing up, you've only had one so far. Watching anyone else playing 14.1 is like having to sit on a dock, seeing someone flailing their arms all over the place just to keep from drowning, and they drown anyway, because they don't know how to swim 10 feet to reach the dock. And the funny thing is, there should have been a sign posted saying DEEP POOL, DON'T enter if you only THINK you know how to swim, there's no lifeguard on duty to save your ass when you finally realize you DONT know how to swim!!!!I don't know about that.
John verbally attacked me out of the clear blue sky at a tournament many years ago because he had been told I'd said something *which I had not.* A year later he came up to me at another tournament and apologized and I was/am good with that. I have no beef with John.
I am also aware of the numerous insulting things John has said to and about Bobby and when they were said. I think you'd lose on that one too. Regardless, this event is about Earl and other great players shooting 14.1.
Let's all try and keep our eye on the ball ;-)

How a top professional 14.1 player would approach a tournament match to 150 or whatever as opposed to how they approach this high run challenge is obvious - there’s no comparison as far as strategic differences.Earl took 2nd to Mika in a major 14.1 event about 5 years ago.
I didn’t watch the matches that closely- did he use substantially different strategies in that tournament as compared with what he is doing now?
In tournaments you play a safety on a circus shot. How a top professional 14.1 player would approach a tournament match to 150 as opposed to how they approach this high run challenge is obvious - there’s no comparison as far as strategic differences.
It is a good platform for things. Where people get lost in it is trying to put to much crap on their pages and share to much..too many friends, to damn many follows and then drama too. With a legit email and a name you can register and put together the basics of a profile in 30 minutes or less. You don't even have to upload a picture for now to get it started. I would suggest trying use a regular name like your own so if you want to expand on what you are doing with it you are set. Your first few follows should be this event and the billiard academy page.Damn!. All these years without FB... Considering it now. Damn. Thanks for link.
And a single race to 150 to get by an opponent is a joke. Should be a best of 3 at the vary minimum!!In tournaments you play a safety on a circus shot.
In high-run attempts you are forced to shoot a circus shot if that is all you have.
Apples.
Oranges.
In tournaments the goal is to win…even if you never have a high run.
Is Earl allowed to practice/warm up before resuming?
