The Mosconi Cup reminds me of when I was a kid

I lived in a small town in Northwest Iowa and horseshoes was a popular game. They had a traveling league but this town, Newell, always won. Finally to put together a team that could beat Newell they rounded up an all star team from the entire county and put them up against Newell.

That's what the Europeans are doing. They can't put together a team from the individual countries that can beat America so they put together an all star team from all over Europe.

While I fully understand and respect your argument, we probably have a larger population of pool players to pick from in the US than they do in Europe.

Perhaps you should be grateful you dont have to face Germany or UK instead of Europe. Both countries - with a fraction of the pool players you have in USA - can come up with a team like:

Germany:
Souquet
Hohmann
Engert
Ortmann
Roschowsky

UK:
Appleton
Majid
Peach
Grey
Boyes

Perhaps Europes weakness is that they have to use players from different countries :wink:
