The New Magic Rack

Any recommendations for removing the film, which I understand is on both sides?

Wouldn't it have made sense for the Magic Rack company to include detailed instructions on the removal of the plastic film??? I mean, how much does a small piece of paper and some printing on it gonna cost 'em? It's a shame that people have to go onto a pool forum to find out how to properly use a pool product.

From the FAQ's on their website:

■ Why does the rack come with a protective film over both sides?

The rack comes with a film to protect the rack in the manufacturing process; this film is to be removed when being used. The easiest way to remove the film is with a small strip of cello tape; just rub the tape on a corner of the rack and lift. This will pull up the protective layer, please remember to do this on both sides.

Thanks, everyone. I just went on their website and saw this, as well. Don't you think they'd have a pull tab for easier removal?

I believe with the new racks, there is film on only one side. Either that or i'm playing with film still left on the rack, but I came on here and asked before and was told that film is only on one side.

I believe nsainfreek is correct. The new black Magic Racks only have film on the side where you can read the text.

Why the hell don't they just take the film off before shipment? If it's so easy why piss-off the buyers. Johnnyt

The protective film:

On the first clear ones, the film came off easily - a little tape (masking or whatever) and it pulls right off.

The Black ones have a MUCH harder film to remove. Still use tape. Put over one of the holes and pull upward. After a couple of times, the film will become loose and you can grab it and remove.

FYI - The newest Black racks will NOT have the film any more.
They should be available in 2-3 weeks.

PS: If you need some (in quantity, email markg@playcsipool.com)

This is from another recent thread on the subject. None of mine had a film - I purchased them recently.

You know it's a pain in the ass to remove or they would remove it for you before they ship it out.

That's funny if the new one only has film on one side but the website instructs you to remove the film from both sides. I wonder how many guys have wrestled with the thing trying to take the backing off that wasn't even there.

They got me with that one. It took a half an hour to get one side off, and another ten minutes to figure out that the other side didn't have one.

LOL. I guess the solution for me is to get a girlfriend with long nails. My wife's nails are short.

I ran into an AZ member a couple months ago who had one of these. We used it for a couple hours and never had a problem with it -and it still had film on one side lol. Thumbs up on the rack.
Not to offend anyone but do we really need a thread on how to remove film from a rack? Have we become this helpless? I can't imagine anyone I know no being able to find a way to remove the film. Maybe not the best way but come on. I'm an oldschool guy who refuses to read instructions until I've managed to booger things up. I have faith in everyone on this board that we can all figure out how to peel a sticker off a thin piece of plastic without ruining it. If you can't, you don't deserve the rack -or food, air, or surely not to vote!
