The New "No Powder" Rule

Not powder but chalk.
Sometimes if i have to land the rock exactly near a rail i will chalk my cue and set the chalk on the rail where i need the rock to land.
Legal?
I dont think so but if my opponent doesn't say anything oh well.

When I was on the road, I would tell them they could mark anything they wanted....
...they could even hire a surveyor.

The last thing I wanted to see was a guy like Efren, who looked at the table like every
square inch was his personal friend.

If you're trying to access the link from your smarty-phone, your app may be choking on the time stamp. Smarty-phone browsers seem not to handle the time specs correctly.

When I clicked the link I got a page that said "Your copy of Safari is missing important software resources. Please reinstall Safari." This has never happened before. So, I just abandoned it and moved on.

I watched players at the wps tourney over the weekend going for what looked
like powder every 2-3 shots, but they all were using gloves ! ?
Whats up with that?

Take it for what it's worth, but I heard if one uses
minimal or very little powder, nothing is going to
be said. I heard it was targeted at some that use
a lot of powder and leave a big mess behind after
their match. Don't shoot the messenger, just read
it on facebook from someone who stays in contact
with the big dog of the DCC.

As for me, I've never really been a powder guy, but
my dad always was. I prefer the Allison Fisher method
of washing your hands, get a super damp paper towel
or cloth to clean the hand sweat off of the shaft, and
then go back over it with a dry paper towel or cloth. It's
always worked well for me. Summer time and humidity
in the pool room can make you do it a little more than
usual, but other than that it's great and there is no mess.

I noticed that there's been some discussion recently on the Forums regarding powder not being allowed at the Derby City Classic event this coming week.

Let it be known that The International 9-Ball Open scheduled for October 28, 2019 has, by some coincidence, independently established that same policy for its event.

The tables and balls will be cleaner than ever.

Pat,

What are the full dates for your Tournament? I have to move quick where I work at when scheduling time off.

Thanks,
Keith

I think anyone that is caught placing the chalk, chalk-side down on the rail, should be immediately banned from the event.

Hey what about chalk ?

Chalk gets all over the table, hands and is a big mess. Surely there
is a no chalk tip or rubber tip or something. I always play barefoot
and stepping on those cubes of chalk that some uncaring person
left on the floor can really hurt. And on top of that I am OFFENDED.
I don't like chalk or the loud noise the balls make hitting together
either. All these gloves make me sad, I think of Michael Jackson,
so everyone must stop that too.

I wear a glove now, but I prefer bare handed and using baby powder.

If they are going to get rid of things, they should get rid of jump cues, chalk that sticks all over the cue ball, one-foul BIH, and other stuff...not baby powder.

Second removing one foul BIH rule, that definitely takes away the aggressive enjoyable offense game. Chalk is ok in some cases where the player uses it very sparingly.

So cheating is OK?

I don't know if you know, but Efren puts the chalk side down, and I believe that SVB puts the chalk side to the side, and not facing up. Both which can cause a mess -- one to the table and one to the player's hands (if SVB's opponent's grabs his chalk)

It's on the WPA calendar for Mon. Oct. 28 through Sat. Nov. 2, 2019. That would be 6 days instead of the 7 days for the 2018 event (Sun. through Sat.). So I don't know whether that is accurate.

If this is true, it is so silly in my opinion.
It's up to him, of course, if he wants to shoot pool and gamble or stay home and try to sell some cars.
Guess how much sleep will be lost over his absence....
People get bent over the darndest things sometimes.

You seem to be equally as worked up about it.

You've had like 30yr to adapt to 1-foul.

Personally I wish they would add a simple dress code like dress pants/jeans and a shirt with a collar or something basic like that to end all the sweat pants, ratty t-shirts, and hats.
