What's the point in complaining about table rates? If it makes you feel better, sure, complaining can be a good release of stress. But it's not going to change reality, and you're just dumping that stress on the ABC loyalists and employees. Manhattan is a big city. It's expensive. Not everyone can afford to live in NYC.
Here's a hypothetical question:
If the rates are too high, why don't you buy your own table? It will pay for itself within a year or two given the expensive table rates at ABC. The answer for many people might be, they can't fit one in their 1500 dollar a month studio. In other words, rent is too expensive. Well, that's exactly why table time is expensive there too.
I've only been to NYC once in my life. I took the train out to ABC because that was one of the landmarks I wanted to see while I was there. I think I waited about 30-40 minutes for a table and was required to play with another patron who was by himself (no single tables allowed, I was told). Here's a strange thought for you... I would have liked the table time to be MORE expensive. That way, I wouldn't have had to wait so long to play.
Seriously, you don't have to live in the city to play pool. You can play pool anywhere in the world, in the boonies even. Anyone who is sick of the city and its outrageous prices, I encourage you to move. Please help do your part in reducing the demand for The City and maybe I can afford to live there one day. Thanks.
